National Margarita Day?! Say no more. A group of friends and I chose this restaurant based on a friend's recommendations. We got there around 6:15pm and there was about a 45 minute wait. So I put my name and number down and we waited outside until we were called. After about maybe 35 minutes we were able to be seated. Our server, Nicholas, came over, greeted us, and took our water orders. We were then brought chips and salsa while we looked over the menu. The chips seemed housemade and overall I enjoyed the salsas. There was a red salsa, which is your regular salsa, green salsa with a little tang, and an orangish salsa which was spicy. We each ordered our drink (no specials) and a large gucamole which came with 4 scoops rather than 2. Gucamole was very underwhelming. We asked for salt and limes to try to spruce it up. Drinks were large and I enjoyed mine. When asked how they were one friend mentioned he wasn't impressed and Nicholas just shrugged it off like "oh well. You're still going to pay for it." We placed our food orders and we all pretty much enjoyed our food, I had the veggie quesadilla. My sister however ordered shrimp fajitas which lacked the peppers and tomatoes that were listed. There were plenty of onions and the shrimp were large but not peeled. When she told the server about her lack of bell peppers and tomatoes, he said he could get them but would have to charge which didn't make sense because THEY left it off. After explaining it to him, they then brought out a few large slices of bell pepper and tomatoes. My sister also ordered some chips and salsa to go and we got the checks. For some reason my check had extra charges for chips and salsa. When we asked why I was charged Nicholas explained that it was because of the to go order. Ok I get that HOWEVER, one that should have been explained beforehand and secondly I didn't ask for them so they shouldn't have been on my check. Nicholas was very adamant that I asked for them until my sister stepped up and let him know it was she who ordered it and that he could take them back and remove it from my check. We asked to speak to a manager because his attitude was not pleasant. Miguel came over and we did our best to explain the situation. He seemed understanding of everything. I just hoped a conversation happened and things would get better with his service. Another thing to note, they allow dogs inside which I think is unsanitary especially when they sit them near the kitchen. They have two patios and if you are allowing pets at your establishment I believe you should require them to sit on one of the patios. But that's just my opinion. I wasn't impressed with service which is a huge factor and I might...

Took a friend here from out of town after a work gig, to this (former) neighborhood gem (Sunday evening around 7:30 PM). Restaurant was doing a good business but was not completely full. Service was VERY slow. Waited a full 10+ minutes between adult beverage drink refills, despite having to flag down our waiter each time and ask him for another round. I ordered the taco salad. I have been patronizing Tex-Mex restaurants for 20+ years and never have I had a “deconstructed” taco salad like Campuzano‘s serves. I guess they were trying to be “avant garde” somehow? The platter arrived with a mass of shredded lettuce, cheese, and chopped tomatoes on the right side of the plate, a scoop of sautéed hamburger meat in the center, and a pile of tortilla strips on the left. After taking a few bites, I quickly surmised the hamburger meat was, at best, room temperature, if not actually cool, and summoned the waiter to send it back to the kitchen (which took several minutes before he appeared again). After telling him my concerns about undercooked meat, he said that he would summon the manager. So after 3…5…10+ minutes…no manager. Our waiter seemed incredulous when I told him that no one had returned to our table to check on our food or ask if we wanted more drinks, therefore we wanted our tab. Three mediocre entrées and 6 adult beverages among 3 people equaled $210 before tax… hence, the rating of mediocre and VERY expensive. Embarrassing and disappointing, given that we were taking an out-of-town friend there.
If you want decent Mexican food in the “hood,” go down Oaklawn Ave. two blocks to the east and have dinner at Mattito’s…that place knows how to do Tex-Mex, drinks, AND service properly for the same if not slightly lower prices.
Whatever Campuzano’s once was…it...
Read moreWe were told to meet at this location for a party and nothing more. When we (my partner and I) got there, I asked the host about the party, and he rudely replied he didn't see a party. I said okay well can we sit at the bar and wait for them to show up he said no, he didn't see any reservation for a party. We just decided to just sit by the door and wait. Another couple walked in and asked to be seated at the bar, and the two open seats were given to them. Cool, no biggie! His two friends came in, and all of a sudden, he's nice and friendly and have them all the hospitality.
We finally had the majority of our party there, and we seated. The waiter was great!! He was fast, efficient, friendly, and kind. He interacted with the whole party and didn't mess up any orders! He knew what each dish consisted of and helped us with special requests.
The drinks were good and strong. Their definitely not stingy with the liquor. You will get what you paid for!! The food was good except the beef enchiladas.... they were horrible. We had several ppl from our table try it, and the consensus was unanimous... they are just flat out nasty.
They gentlemen who sang happy birthday didn't seem to care for that part of their job, which is fine.... just don't do it, lol.
Overall, it was an ok experience. The restaurant was still bigger than the one in Cedar Hill, so...
