Let me start off with saying that the hotel itself was nice, clean, and the staff was friendly. My issues lie in two places: 1st, I booked this stay directly with the hotel's website. It was nightly Valet service at $35 per night... well, I take that back, the Valet service (on arrival) told me my other option was to park my car on the street and move it every 3-4 hours so I wouldn't get ticketed or towed. (thats not much of an option if i have to get up every 3-4 hours in the middle of the night). I also prefer not to have anyone driving my vehicles. Its a personal space thing, and I NEVER opt for valet service. EVER. This was extremely frustrating to my personality. I like to have access to my vehicle at any time, not wait on anyone, and not pay $35 for someone to park my car 20 feet away (or even 200 feet away).
My second issue was with breakfast. I came down hoping for a nice meal in a beautiful looking in-house restaurant before the event started that I came to attend. The staff was nice, but when I asked for a menu, they told me there were only 2 options and no menu. Avocado toast, and an Omelette (aside from the breakfast bar which had almost nothing available for $22). I chose the omelette, and was promptly asked what I wanted on it. Now, all of a sudden, its not two items. One of them has options. Since i'm not a chef, and have no idea what goes in an omelette, I said "can I order a denver omelette?" (mind you, this is the only type of omelette name I ever remember ordering anywhere, and what I assumed was the most common omelette since it seems to be the #1 omlette on any list of omelettes i've ever ordered from. I know I like it, but have no idea what’s in it other than meat and cheese).
The waiter says "our cook doesn't know how to cook a denver omelette". Wait what? your cook doesn't know how to cook the most common omlette available?
For reference, delightedcooking.com says "Two of the most common variations in the United States are the "Denver" and "Southwest.""
So, now we have no menu, the cooks aren't really cooks, and i've no clue what goes in an omelette. So I googled it.... I said "I want sausage" (ok) "and bacon" (that will be an extra charge). "wait, so you don't have a menu, and i'm supposed to guess the ingredients, AND now theres rules about which ingredients get charged more?"
My final order was "please give me an omelette, with EGGS (since the cooks don't know what goes in an omelette, I thought it best to mention I wanted eggs), Sausage, and all of the ingredients and veggies that aren't an upcharge."
In the end, I got an omelette with a few veggies, and about 3 - 4 little pieces of sausage mixed in.
Yikes. To me this is ridiculous. Why do I need to be guessing at what I can put in an omelette, how one is made, or what is upcharged and what is not? Why can't you provide even a simple paper printed menu with a list of the rules on what I can and can't order?
To top it all off, there was no salt anywhere to be seen or found, no spoons on our table (but on all the others) and I had to ask nicely several times to get creamer and sugar for my coffee. These little things were just irritants on top of the weird menu issue... none of which I would have ever thought twice about if it weren't for the strange and overly complicated ordering situation.
Management, Please, print out a freaking menu with options so we can know what’s available, and what’s not available. I just want to order a simple breakfast, not get challenged to a build-a-bear cookoff for omelettes. That makes me grumpy in the morning, and then I have to apologize to your waiter for being grumpy.
And don’t make me walk down flights of stairs to find my own car and get my sunglasses, because theres ONE customer using valet at the time. I'm paying for a service that wasn't even provided...

But I took the risk on this one as it was a fairly brand-new property and next door to the Katy Trail (which I love) and in a quiet neighborhood of Dallas. ||I should've paid more attention to the sporadic reviews and taken better heed, and instead paid a little more to stay at least at the nearby JW Marriott or Ritz- however I succumbed to my pseudo frugalness as this was such a long stay- we were here for a full 2 weeks. ||Having a filthy, stained towel that was part of the towel set up in the bathroom at check-in, and giving it back to the staff and then receiving it back by them 20 minutes later says at all. This is a true story, there's no elaboration on this and it was truly surreal and bizarre. ||No carpets in the rooms (which a lot of Marriotts are doing these days after renovations or on newly built properties) and unfortunately you can hear people above you as they walk around the room which is very disturbing. ||An incredibly rude and surly bartender in the lobby lounge that not only greatly upset me one night while ordering food, but a couple days later absolutely upset my spouse while they were by themselves, totally unaware that I had the same experience 2 evening prior. We are two completely different people, with different personalities, not to mention two completely different days so this woman was the common denominator in the situation.
