If I could leave a 0 -star I would. Yesterday I experienced racism that made me sick to my stomach here at Luckys Cafe! I’m standing in line behind a white man and the greeter comes to him and assist him with seating by asking him if he would like a both or table and taking him to be seated along with menu and utensils, as I’m standing at the front area he looks back at me and says “ just have a seat anywhere” no greeting, no care like the man in front of me. So I seat myself.

Another waiter brings me a menu and I’m waiting for my order to be taken. So one waiter comes and brings me water and throws my straw at me. I let it slide and keep looking over the menu. Well once the waiter approaches me and ask if I’m ready to order. I was able to partially state my order as the waiter quickly snatched the menu and walked off. I called out excuse me, Excuse me as I was not done completing my order. The waiter ignored me and continued to walk off. I tried getting his attention twice and was completely ignored. Eventually I had no other choice but to get up and walk out. I will never ever visit Lucky Cafe again. It’s 2023 and people always like to say that racism doesn’t exist, this was a clear example of pure racism and it needs to stop. I forgot to mention I was the ONLY black person in the restaurant. I’m not someone whom gets easily uncomfortable because I know I’m a true professional, but the mistreatment I received yesterday as astounding. This business needs to train its employees, and remove the bad apples...

Zach is the bomb. He cares about his customers, his staff, and the food. If you can get a seat at the bar when he's serving, you may just get some fun and Interesting anecdotes from his beer league hockey team! Yes, he has great stories. Now the food... WOW! Scratch made delicious local and organic Ingredients. The biscuits are so fluffy you think you can eat three. They serve breakfast all day and have a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options. My hubby and I shared the roasted turkey club on jalapeño cheddar bread. It was honestly one of the best club sandwiches that I have ever eaten. The fries are crisp and thinly sliced. Luckys has a full bar and beer and wine. Of course, they offer mimosas, what Dallas restaurant worth it's salt doesn't? They have daily specials and I am getting hungry just thinking about the fried mushrooms and the homemade meatloaf. Get to Luckys early or be prepared to wait. If you can hold out for lunch until mid-afternoon, 2 or 3, then you may be fortunate enough to snag a seat at the bar. Go hungry and be prepared to be satisfied! Went back for dinner this week. I had the meatloaf with whipped potatoes and green beans. Of course I added a basket of biscuits & corn bread. The food smelled heavenly and I scared it down before I remembered to take some pictures. I did snap a photo of their Frozen Rose, my second one. They are only $3 on Tuesdays. They have drink specials every day. Ever crave old fashioned bucket fried steak with cream gravy?...

I used to go here a bunch 15 years ago and hadn't been in a while and decided to give it a swirl back in April. I really like the atmosphere of this place from the neon sign outside, to the open floor plan, to the writing on the wall above.

The meal always starts out good with some corn bread and biscuits with honey. I don't normally like corn bread because it is too dry but this was so moist and tasty. Loved it. We asked what the most popular item was and was told Chicken Fried Steak and it was on special for $9.50 ($2.50 off). Wowzers, what a great deal!

My friend really enjoyed his meal but he is from China and not a chicken fried steak connoisseur. The chicken fried steak is not great. It's not that big (but still a good deal) and it was severely overcooked. Much of the batter on the outside was burnt and it tasted a bit too salty. The gravy on the other hand was outstanding. All that being said, the chicken fried steak was still worthy of being eaten, but don't expect anything too great.

My friend scarfed down the sweet potatoes which he said were great. I ordered the whipped potatoes which are essentially chunky mashed potatoes with cream gravy. The texture was nice and the taste was AMAZING. These may be the best potatoes I've ever had. Thumbs up. My green beans were somewhat burnt and tasteless.

Overall, this place is a mixed bag between mediocre and amazing. The prices are amazing though and I will certainly be bag...

Not worth it! We wanted to order a steak and scrambled cheese eggs breakfast, however it wasn’t on their menu. Our server Elvia informed us we could order the All American breakfast ($14.99) with the option to substitute the choice of bacon/sausage that comes with the All American with our choice of either chopped steak or sirloin. We chose the sirloin cooked medium, mind you there was no mention there would be a hefty up charge for substituting the sausage or bacon for steak. When the food arrived, it was cold, bland, with the eggs lacking any basic seasoning. The steak must’ve been the lowest quality sirloin available on the market because it was extremely tough and chewy. It did appear to be cooked medium, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about it. Similar to the eggs, it was bland and flavorless. The bill was $90 with tax and tip for this disappointing breakfast for two (with 2 orange juices and one coffee). That included a $24 surcharge for the two rubbery steaks. We would’ve been better off staying back at the Hilton for their amazing all you can eat continental breakfast for $30/each, but instead we wanted to see what all the hype was about over at Lucky’s. An unlucky lesson learned. Absolutely ridiculous, never again!

If you’re looking for a café that feels like home, Lucky’s Café delivers in every way. From the moment you walk in, you sense a warmth — natural light, cozy decor, and a smile at the door that sets the tone. The ambience strikes a sweet balance between being casual and special: you want to stay, relax, chat, or just enjoy your time. The food is comforting and well-executed. Nothing overly pretentious, yet nothing lazy. Flavors come through, portions are generous, and everything feels fresh. Drinks follow the same pattern: thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. Whether you’re in the mood for something modest or a little more treat-like, Lucky’s has you covered in a way that feels generous. Service is a highlight. Staff are welcoming, attentive, and seem genuinely happy to be there. Even during busy moments, there’s a kind of flow — things arrive in good time; there’s enough attention paid to make you feel like a guest, not just another order. Overall, Lucky’s Café earns all five stars. Great atmosphere, great food & drinks, kind service — a place I’ll be happy to return to often.
