UPDATE: If I could give it over 5 stars, I would. Just went again recently for a date night with my wife and was blown away by the service. We asked Isabella (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) a manager what a burrata was and if we should get it. She explained it had the consistency of cottage cheese but had a rich flavor and that she likes to eat it when prosciutto. She said if we didn't like it, she'd mark it off. Intrigued, we got it and it was amazing! Spreading it over the focaccia and eating with tomatoes, arugula, and the prosciutto was a great combination. Without the prosciutto would have been great as well imo. They also give balsamic and olive oil dressings. We then got a traditional sausage and a star Daniele which were also delicious. At the end of the meal, we asked for the check and she had still marked the burrata as a PR marketing item and given it to us for free! She obviously didn't know I'm on Yelp, so I was just so impressed that she would mark it off because she was promoting it to us. We thanked her and she commented that they liked to do special things for first-time customers (my wife's first time). We loved the burrata and we will definitely come back.
First time trying Mister 01 and was pretty excited. A more upscale vibe with a lot of windows/glass but not too big.
They are known for their star crust pizzas where they have peaks in their crust filled with ricotta cheese. They allow half and half orders, so we got half Luca half Beckham (star crust) and half Sausage and half Maria. Pizzas were very thin and light. Flavor was good. The stuffed ricotta crust was interesting and fun, but my friends and I preferred the regular crusts. You can also turn regular crust pizzas to star crusts for +$2. I liked the sausage a lot. It had a stronger (maybe more traditionally American) flavor than the others. 2 pizzas for 3 guys was just enough. There was also chili infused olive oil you could use that I used for my star crust pizzas that was unique and complemented well. We were told salads could feed 2-3 people if you want a salad.
Service was also very nice. Kathryn was great and attentive. Also because it was the first time for 2 of us, someone else kindly offered us a Nutella dessert pizza on the house. Which was very nice. It was good but I think I'm not used to the thin maybe Italian style crust. Almost floppy. Overall, great experience in a great area. 1 pizza was $17-19 so definitely did not break the bank. 4.5 stars for the food/taste but 5 stars overall....
Read moreWe had seen this place on TikTok and had been wanting to try it. It was my spouse’s birthday, so we figured it was a good excuse. You know when you’re close by, because it starts smelling awesome the second you step out of your car, in the parking lot and walk up to the door. When we walked in we were greeted and seated right away. The place is pretty small and the tables are pretty close together, everything is crisp, neat and clean. You’ll manage being too close together, as you’re in for a real treat!
Not long after we were seated, we were greeted by a very high energy, full of positivity server named Sergio. We were given the back story how Mister 01 began, and that the famous pizza, that started it all, is the Star Luca.
We started out with a Caesar Salad and Burrata e White Truffle Oil Bar app with Focaccia bread. For our Dinner we decided to try the Star Luca and a Star Laina as well. Sergio brought our salad and Burrata out pretty quickly after we ordered them and always made sure our water glasses were full. He came around to check up on us to see if we were happy with apps. YES, we were, they are both very delicious!
Sergio timed the pizzas coming out perfectly, as we had just finished up our apps, when he brought them out. They were both really superior. I love how thin the crusts are. You really can taste all of the flavors of the sauce, cheeses and seasonings, when the crust is wonderfully thin and crispy, like theirs is! Again, a few minutes later, Sergio came by to make sure we were happy with our meal and made sure our water was full.
Finally, he surprised us with a resounding rendition of Happy Birthday throughout the restaurant’s speakers, as he walked around the corner carrying a Nutella pizza with a lit birthday candle for my spouse! SO awesome! The whole restaurant joined in to sing along and gave huge claps and hurrays at the end.
Everything was perfect!
We’ll definitely be back and hopefully, Sergio will be working, so we can request him...
Read moreI’ve given many reviews and there’s nothing I like more than being able to give a place a good review because that means I had a great experience. And I’ve never wanted to give a more positive review than I do right now for Mister 01 Extraordinary Pizza at Turtle Creek in Dallas. I sought out this place because it was considered the top rated pizza in Dallas by several accounts. I had already tried Bellatrino’s and Cane Rosso. Both make very solid pizza, but Mister 01 tops the both by a mile. They have so many unique combinations that I had trouble deciding. But I settled on the Star Beckham. And I was not disappointed. The crust was amazing, the flavors popped and the star-shaped corners (8 of them) with pockets of ricotta cheese were so good. I usually wolf down my pizza, but I savored every bite. A 13 inch $20 pizza is probably just the right amount of pizza for two people. But I’ve always prided myself on my ability to eat a whole pie by myself (not that there’s any glory in that). Well I did eat the whole darn pie, but it was probably one more piece than I should have had. But it was just too delicious to not eat it all. I saw one of the salads being delivered to a nearby table, party of one, and I had to laugh because that salad clearly could have fed four people. My waitress, Geraldine, was the best. She took her time in explaining the many options and her personal favorites. Absolutely adorable. The manager (or owner) even stopped by to check on me and was very informative about their simple and all fresh ingredients and their 72 hours that they proof their dough. And it pays off big time. I can’t recommend this place enough to all pizza lovers. And I can’t wait to come back. Oh, and in this day and age of inflated food prices for eating out, my meal was one of the best values I had in a...
