This was a delightful treat to try. We have been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in our area that serves great food and I think we may have found it. I love the ambiance of the place, colorful, yet rustic. Cute cacti on every table matching the rest of the decor. Our server was Cesar, I have never met a more passionate server as him. And when I said passionate, I mean towards the menu. This man knows the food well and stayed speaking Spanish from his excitement to describe the food. It was great. We definitely enjoyed his foresight. We started off with arugula salad, which may sound super unassuming, but it's packed with flavor. It has mangoes apples, roasted peanuts, feta cheese and of course arugula. I'm always cautious with the set sounding salads, but this was the right type of sweetness that complemented the feta so well. Our server, Cesar told us he loves this salad so much he eats it everyday. Like I said, man knows his food. I then continued with a Salmon dish, that I wish I could pronounce. I took French in high school, wish I took Spanish after moving to Texas. But back to the dish, believe it or not, it was the rice that pulled the whole dish together. The salmon was grilled at medium temperature and dressed lightly with a cilantro vinaigrette type of sauce that I wish there was more of. The rice was this creamy coconut rice that tasted delectable. Like all your taste buds opened up and threw a party kind of delectable. My husband had this chicken dish with this creamy flavorful sauce with a hint of lime smothered all of over the chicken. He was pleased by how well seasoned and filling it was. He says, "That was quite an exclusive, we're definitely going again." Happy man, happy fam! Lol So the portion sizes are huge! We came hungry and couldn't finish our meals even a tasty as it was. But we couldn't help but try the churros, cause if you're ever looking for authentic Mexican how can you not get the churros? It was probably the best churros I've ever had. It was stuffed with a Carmel filling, and had a side of melted rich chocolate and the best tasting vanilla ice cream I have ever had. That ice cream tasted home made, you can see the vanilla bean specks on it. Check out the pictures! It was a wonderful ending to our night. Would...
Read moreThis was the first time that my experience at this establishment deviated from my expectations. We arrived as a party of eight, including a toddler, requiring a high chair. The hostess was both friendly and professional, promptly seating us at a table within five minutes. Upon reaching our table, our server promptly inquired about our beverage and appetizer preferences. We were awaiting the arrival of our cousin with the baby, who arrived ten minutes later. We allowed her ample time to review the menu before placing her order. My cousin promptly placed her order, ensuring her daughter received food promptly. However, our server never returned to take our orders for the remaining table members, who remained seated for approximately thirty minutes. During this time, we assumed the bar tender, who was exceptionally helpful, took over our orders. Our server never informed us that she would be stepping aside to attend to a larger table. Instead, various individuals delivered food to our table, and that was the extent of the service. The most concerning aspect of our experience was the delayed return of our server to present us with our checks. We had already finished eating and were expecting to receive our gratuity charges. Surprisingly, our checks did not include any gratuity charges, which seemed unusual, especially considering the size of our party. Upon reviewing our checks, we noticed that the only receipt displayed was the tip amount charged, without any indication of the actual gratuity charge. This oversight was particularly concerning, as we were unable to determine the percentage of gratuity owed. Furthermore, our server did not assist our table until we had completed our meal. This lack of transparency and the absence of the gratuity charge on our checks raised serious concerns. I intend to contact the corporate office to address...
Read moreHave been here 3 times and it's been a pleasant experience each time. I love the decor, find it relaxing. So far, I have only tried the soups, the house salad and a few drinks. I always start with basic items, because if they can't make a good soup, I have found it doesn't bode well for the more complex dishes.
The Pozoles Verde & Rojo are excellent! The Rojo, especially, has a lovely complex broth! I highly recommend them! The 3rd soup, Sopa de Lima, is good, but not as tasty as the other 2. A very solid choice though. The house salad is delicious, far better than the average iceberg lettuce & tomato salads that usually comprise most house salads. The salsa is not the traditional red sauce, it is very good!
I tried the Long Island Iced Tea, their top shelf Rita and their swirl. The Long Island was meh. The other 2 were good.
Service & seating were prompt, even on a busy day. Service was fantastic on the 1st two visits, with everyone I saw asking if I needed anything. The third visit had my waitress taking my order & not showing up until I was done with my soup & almost done with my salad - all she said was "are you done?" as she tried to take my salad plate....while I was still eating it. I told her no and she left. The next time she showed up, she actually asked if I needed anything, probably because I started pointing to the empty salsa dish. She was extremely pleasant each time, but her service was disappointing. Again it was busy, but she passed by me several times. Do not let this deter you from coming here though! So many dishes to try that I don't see at other restaurants!
I live in Arlington, but would happily drive...
