First time going to Tacodeli and it was a nice experience. The place is very modern, chic, and quirky. The taco options are not your traditional street taco variety and the flavors are unexpected. They are also very big tacos (you can get stuffed with 2). The service was great! The employees were talkative and helpful with the menu and suggested their favorites. I ordered "The Heather" vegetarian taco on a wheat tortilla (was half raw) and it was OK. A bit less beans and a bit more lettuce would of made it perfect. It went well with their Doña hot salsa. I also ordered the "Pollo Fantástico" chicken taco on a corn tortilla. It was my least favorite. The corn tortilla was soggy and didn't taste good. It was actually bitter and wasn't hot or cooked enough through. The chicken just didn't have a Mexican taste to it. I took it out of the tortilla and ate it with some tortilla chips I had and it was pretty decent that way. I also had their corn in a cup (Esquites). The taste was different. Not bad, just different, but not crazy about it either. Overall it was a good experience. They have a very large menu to try from and it wasn't too bad to where I wouldn't come back to try something else. This taco chain is trying to discover new flavors to put into a taco so don't expect to find traditional flavors here. Everything I tasted was new. I didn't fall in love with anything I tried today. Maybe you'll get lucky when...
Read moreWe’ve been frequent visitors since it opened -in fact we ate here four times the week it opened. Always impressed with ingredients, quality of food, and customer service. We were immediately hesitant of this place because it wasn’t a home grown Oak Cliff taco place, but it turned out to be a great addition to the neighborhood.
Sadly customer service has dwindled and is really nonexistent at this point. When you walk it the staff will just look at you. When you go to order they again just stand there. They don’t offer a receipt after taking order -they just walk off…if I had never visited this place I’d have no idea what to do after ordering.
There are significant signs there’s a lack of management. The individual working the register standing around during slow times giggling on their phone and the front tiled wall is FILTHY, tables sat dirty (had to clean one to sit at), and other noticeable things needing to be attended to. If I was the owner I’d personally do a in house retraining because this is obviously just a check for the people working here and it’s not doing any service to the Taco Deli name.
Quality of the food isn’t as good as it use to be and at $5 a taco that’s a let down.
Since this isn’t a locally owned spot -I don’t see myself returning after...
Read moreI share Gregory Trahans sentiments (but perhaps not as low of a score): The only Latinos you see in sight are the awesome staff working behind the counter (which alone raises this restaurants profile by one full star due to the staffs friendly service). Food though is absolutely 'blanded' . To be fair, I'm a native Californian transplant who also spent a considerable amount of time in St Louis. This is more akin to a Midwest palette than anything you find out in the Southwest. Had 'Carne Asada' tacos and Al Pastor which frankly looked nothing like ur traditional Carne Asada tacos that the northwest border of Mexico is known for. Al Pastor is surprising though because of the large contingent of Hispanics from Mexico's capital here in Dallas (Mexico City specializes in Al Pastor tacos). So if you lack some melanin and like Instagramming your food, this may be the place for you. If you like some flavor to your tacods, try to hit up a more traditional spot (still...
