I looked at the menu and was so happy that this place had options that were seeming vegan friendly! I was so excited to try it. When my friend and I got there we were greeted and sat, then told that our server will be right with us. They weren't. The greeter got our drink order. Still no waiter. The greeter took our app order and brought it to the table. As we start to enjoy our chips and salsa (the roasted peanut habanero salsa is SO GOOD!) 2 servers walk in carrying Starbucks. After they divvy up the orders, our waiter comes to the table and takes our order. I ordered the mushroom al pastor taco, no cheese and the Ensalada Tropical, no crema.. my friend ordered the veggie torta, with mango/jicama slaw & yucca fries... but rice instead of the bread. Our server disappeared outside for about 10 minutes. We finally got him and asked for more chips. Those came. We waited another 10 mins.. the food comes out and the food doesnt do the menu justice. All of the fruit on the salad, had to be canned. Along with the hearts of palm. It was less than exciting. The taco was so small. $3.50 for barely any mushrooms.. a taco should be filled! It was really good, though. My friends food had amazing flavor. Our waiter checked to see if our food was good and then disappeared again. My friend raised his hand to attempt to get someone's attention. Servers saw us, walked by, there was no team work within the group. We had to stand up and really attempt to be seen, even though the restaurant was empty. Additionally, I'm well aware of the stigm that "black people don't tip".. well, I was a server. So, I LOVE the idea of tipping. As a server, please understand that you should provide ALL customers with the same respect, because when you don't you create a situation where you play into the stereotype. You provide poor service based on a stigma and in return, we don't tip or we tip on the lesser end of the spectrum. I would've been able to give Urban Taco more stars, but the customer service was subpar.

Came here randomly to burn some time before my movie started. From the start was intrigued by the menu. AMAZING SALSA! Grab a Salsa Trio for $4. Over ten different flavor profiles to choose from. I opted for a green salsa platter and was surprised at just how different the kitchen was able to spin the same ingredients into three totally separate sauces. For my entree I had the Portobello and the Red Snapper Tacos. The Portobello Taco had a subtle heat to it. The texture of the mushrooms was comparable to an animal protein but the taste was earthy. A little slice of mango tamed the heat and added a sweet finish. THE RED SNAPPER.. Flakey. Blackened. Flavorful. The slaw was crunchy. The dressing was garlicky. It was amazing. I paired the food with a mango Agua Fresca and a dressed Topo-Chico. Bonus: The limes were juicy. The corn tortillas were the perfect consistency. Server was well informed and offered the lunch special to save me a few bucks. I'll be back!

I always heard of great Texas food. This was ahhhmmazing. The mix of flavors were perfectly matched. I got 3 tacos for $14 with 2 sides. The shrimp was the best I ever had. The spiced chips with salsa and avocados mixes were unique. The churros with ice cream were good but cheap on the ice cream serving. The frozen margarita was perfect and too strong for a second one. Revisited review: I have been able to come back to Dallas multiple times now living here a couple times a month and have visited other places. This is still my favorite. Torchis is great too but I think second to this one. They moved across the street in the same shopping area from last year. It's nice but one time it was so noisy from patrons my ears were hurting. 3 years update, yep, still great tacos!

I want to start my review by saying I have been able to give people the benefit of the doubt when a restaurant is busy and it takes time to be served. The experience I had at Urban Taco was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. When we arrived to this establishment we were asked to wait to be seated because our entire party of five was not present. This would be understandable if they were a full house but they had plenty of tables opened when we arrived. When we were seated it took 5 minutes for the waiter to even take our drink order. After waiting 15 minutes some of our drinks had arrived but when the rest did they were not even the correct drinks. After another 5 minutes of fixing our drink order, they didn't even bother to take our order. We than waited another 15 mins before we decided to just close our tab and leave. When I asked a bus boy to bring us our tab because we were leaving, he had the manager come speak to us. The manager apologized for the inconvenience but at this point I personally did not want to eat the food. Not even willing to try it. For one reason and one reason alone. The server never came to our table to apologize. To be honest he never came back after taking our drink order. For this reason I wasn't willing to even try the food even though the ladies ordered because they were hungry at this point. I never give bad reviews even when the service is bad but what happened was beyond...

Went in to place a to go order because they ignore their phones. I was completely ignored as the bartender stood around chatting with the wait staff. I had to yell excuse me to get him to come take my order. He told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. The order took over 45 minutes to come out. He did not check on the order or acknowledge that I was sitting there the entire time. I step out and when I stepped back in the check was where I was sitting. I paid and he still walked around without handing me my food. He attempted to hand me a bag that had been sitting out for over 30 minutes. I asked him if that was my food waiting the whole time and he said no it’s a different bag. I told him that was the same bag and he turned around and gave me a different bag. Then he yelled for me to not ever talk to him like that and ran to the back and grabbed the manager or chef. As I was speaking with the manager/chef, I could hear him calling me foul words in Spanish to the other wait staff. When I went to leave he yelled out don’t you ever talk to me like that again. I wasn’t rude and disrespectful. I asked him a question. He has no business working in the service industry and definitely not being a bartender. He has no people skills. I won’t be going back. I’ve also had better food at a taqueria for...
