I was trying to find a Christian church closer than Watermark Church to where I live and gave Fellowship Church a try. I've been attending Christian churches most of my life and Fellowship was absolutely one of the worst.
First of all, it's rare these days for a bucket to be passed around to make us feel awkward and guilty for not putting money into. But that wasn't the last time they begged for money, I'll get back to that later.
Secondly, after the intro words etc, I was expecting a pastor to go up to the podium but instead a movie screen popped up and we proceeded to watch a pastor speaking from another location. Huh? If I wanted to watch a pastor on a screen I'd just stay home and watch a pastor on YouTube.
Finally, this head pastor guy proceeded to basically beg for money for some new expansion that they're planning. They even handed out some super nice and expensive looking large trifold brochures about it. Those completely unnecessary and a waste of our Lord's money. He rambled on about this money put for an extended period of time. And at one point made a statement that almost made me fall out of my seat. He stated and I quote, "Oh we HAVE the money for this project... And it's in your wallet!" How bold and disgusting can one statement be?
I left that place feeling sick to my stomach knowing that my fellow Christians have obviously been led away from the priorities of our Lord. It's also sad to think that some curious non-believers will attend that excuse of a church, witness their circus and think that that's what we're all about and they will never attend another church again. I'll pray that doesn't happen. In the meantime, avoid this church until they get new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe LOVE our church, and church family!!šš Fellowship Church always has such an inviting, loving, welcoming atmosphere. We absolutely love calling Fellowship our church home! Both of our sons were baptized at Fellowship and every single time we come, we are welcomed with loving arms, since the moment we first walked in the door. Praise and worship here is an experience you will never forget, and I feel it draws me closer to God every time, no matter what! The message is always amazing, and I really love that our church isn't afraid to tackle tough topics that our world doesn't want to address. Afterall, we are supposed to live the way God and Jesus and The Word instructs us to, and Fellowship abides by that. Pastor Ed and his wife, Lisa, are so great, along with every other pastor that's a part of our church. Our children really love their youth pastors too!! There are many campuses, spread out across North Texas and every single campus is great. We chose Dallas for our weekly service because it's closer to our home, and also because we know everyone here at our church home campus. But for those looking for a church home, any of the Fellowship church campuses would be great!! Our children love Fellowship and there are so many amazing opportunities for the kiddos to explore within. The Mix, designed for the older teen group has changed our teenager sons life, and I really appreciate that Fellowship has developed this group and offered the opportunity for our teen population, as the world is really getting worse, and they need this in their lives! We love everyone at Fellowship, and can't imagine our lives without our church home...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been attending Fellowship and even served at the Grapevine campus. Currently, I attend services at the Dallas campus. My experience at Grapevine was challenging it led me to take a break because I didnāt want to accept that a church environment could feel like that. At the time, I made excuses for the people, but ultimately, the people are the church.
Since then, Iāve moved and began attending the Dallas campus. Unfortunately, Iāve experienced the same kind of disheartening interactions there. One moment that stands out happened on Motherās Day. I shared part of my story with a young lady, I wonāt mention her name, but she wore blue and had dark hair. I wonāt go into detail, but Iāll say this: Iād rather have someone see or hear me suffering and do something, than witness it and remain silent.
To me, if Iām going to be a sheep in a flock, I want to be under a shepherd who weeps with his people, prays for them, reads and lives the Word, and is willing to fight the enemy on their behalf. I donāt want to be led by someone who watches people struggle and does nothing; someone more concerned with preaching a sermon than caring for the hearts of the people they serve.
From these experiences, Iāve realized where my disconnect lies with both campuses. Iāve given Fellowship chance after chance, but itās time for...
