Had a gift card so I ordered the Vegetarian Autumn Soup, Fuji Apple Salad with chicken and Cappuccino. I've been to Panera before and have enjoyed what was ordered. This time, not at all.
The soup has honey, apple juice and sweet cream and I found the soup to be way to sweet. It was nice and creamy, but the sweetness ruined it for me.
The Fuji salad with chicken and sweet white balsamic vinaigrette was also a bomb! Lots of mesclun that was rotting, the lettuce looked funny, like it had been frozen. The taste - AWFUL. The salad dressing was overly sweet. The chicken was a wierd consistency, without taste. The pecans, red onion, gorgonzola, Fuji apple chips were good, but I couldn't eat the salad because of the lettuce, chicken and the sweet dressing.
The Cappuccino was very bitter even with 1 packet of sugar.
Panera Bread has a good reputation, but I can't leave a good review based on this experience.
FUP - about 4 hours after started feeling like I was going to get sick. Just progressed, still feeling bad about 12 hours later. Won't be eating...
Read moreWent in to order a lemonade. Asked the cashier if they have the blood orange lemonade in a non frozen version. She says yes, it’s in the back. “I have to order in the back” ? She replied yes. I go to the back and ask, where do I get cups from for the lemonade, she asks me did I pay. We go back up front and the lady says “oh I thought she had a cup” and dismisses the entire situation. So I go to pay for my lemonade, with a $10 bill and she gives me back $2 as change. I explain to her I paid with a $10 bill, she says no it was a $5. I don’t spend my $5 bills so that was a lie. Instead of arguing, I asked for a refund, gave the change back, and she still in turn gives me $2.54 instead of $5. I will NEVER visit this establishment again. Even the manager was shocked at the transaction, but instead of arguing and being deemed as “an angry black woman” I simply left. Horrible...
Read moreBecause I had a gift card (long story, but I paid for it), met a friend for lunch at the new Danbury, CT Panera. (We'd had a great time at the old one in Dec.) Dreadful. Small. Crowded. Too hot when doors closed and too cold when they opened, which was often since it was lunchtime. And no place to sit where one could get away from that. No personal space. Half the tables are too high for me to sit at. Almost all the other ones were "shared space". Had THE most anemic bowl (and hardly a bowl) of French Onion Soup ever. Mostly missing the onions. Was I nourished? Yes. Did I enjoy time with my friend? Yes. Might I be giving away the other $50 on the card? Yes. Not even sure take out would be better. One son opened the first Panera in Brookfield almost 20 years ago, and it used to be my favorite place to go. The 2 they closed were better than this one by far. Do...
