The temperature was 80 degrees in Danvers. As Coty and I walked into Daily Harvest Cafe, we were greeted by comforting air conditioning and the terrifying shrieks of toddlers. We admired a portrait of a young man behind a tractor. It gave off a modern rustic aura. We tried to identify the prices on the menu but conveniently the prices were whited out. Only a man with the greatest eyeball strength could make out any description on the menu as the text was size two font and seemed like it was written in wingdings. After letting a mother and her screaming child ahead of us, we approached the counter to order. A wave of social anxiety flew over my friend, Coty. Experiencing dry mouth, he attempted to plead the women for a classic American breakfast wrap. She looked at him quite astonished, but understood his request. I ordered the same thing. The price for each wrap was 8 dollars. As we waited for our food, we watched other customers saunter into the cafe. Including one lady with sleeve tattoos. Seeing these tattoos peaked my juvenile tendencies, but I held them back for the meal. I will continue holding them back until I get home. In the lonely hours of night, zippers will no longer hold me back, and I will unleash.
The food was quite delicious. It reminded me of a farm. The traditional vibe from the cafe mixed with the aluminum prison-like tray made the experience one to remember. The wrap was very filling, but I will need to feed once more to make it through the day.
Coty also enjoyed his meal. The first bite was exactly was he was expecting, a nice mix of potatoes, crispy bacon, and egg. All of the ingredients seemed quite fresh. As the meal went on, he felt overwhelmed by the potatoes, they took over his palette and he lost the taste of everything else. His dining experience was in jeopardy. He put down the wrap, unable to force himself to finish.
They had an array of delectable deserts, but after the financial attack at the register, we were in no position to go back up.
We finished our meals with blue banana smoothies. After noticing another intelligent customer give into his craving and buy, we needed to satisfy our curiosity. Coty had to order a smoothie with water instead of milk because his body is lactose intolerant. This lead to mass confusion. It took the people behind the counter around 20 minutes to get us the smoothies. This was twice as long as the wait for the actual meal.
Overall a positive dining experience. We will be back for smoothies sometime soon, but will leave...
Read moreWhat food they have is fine. The only redeeming factor of this place is the stuff tastes pretty fresh and the sandwiches and lattes are usually well-made, assuming they remember all the ingredients. They are always out of stuff (ALWAYS). You will likely be told several times that your choice is unavailable, though you'll probably be happy with what you get, assuming they even include everything it says it contains on the menu on it.
Today, for example, I attempted to order a burger. Instead of being told at the counter "oh, sorry, we're out of burgers! would you like something else?" I sat for 10 minutes until some practically-shivering teenage girl had to come out and stammer out that they did not have any burgers left. After making another selection, another 10 minutes goes by, and the same teenager comes out to inform me that the bread I chose had also run out. OK, it happens, but nobody knows what's going on until someone walks out back to the cooler to discover something's run out? The cashier has no idea what has been 86ed? They're just flying by the seat of their pants back there?
Then come to find out that the sandwich I ordered as a replacement for what i actually wanted which was supposed to contain bacon did not, in fact, have any bacon in it. Do I have to open every container to verify the quality of my order before I leave? Surely someone back there is making sure orders are being fulfilled correctly?
Round everyone in there up for training once a month. It is clear everyone is just looking around waiting for someone else to take care of things. Owners, your labor is killing your good name, but it's not their fault. It's yours. Everyone in there was kind and patient. This review is not about the service. They just don't know what to do to take initiative and solve problems by themselves. Even (especially?) in food service, employee development is absolutely critical. Put in time and effort with them, and it'll pay dividends back to you in happier customers, reduced inefficiency, and lower turnover. Something of note: I've been in there once or twice per month over the past 3 years and every time I go in, it's new faces all around. That's never...
Read moreI love the Daily Harvest. They have the best staff always so sweet, personable and friendly and love that when I walk in they smile because they know I’m a townie and frequent the location. Good know know when they see me they smile and say hi so good to see you again. They did some internal updates that look amazing. Good is always on point perfect and delish. I also love that I was scatter brain and said “I want a vegan smoother what can I turn into oat milk?” They knew off the bat exactly what to suggest. Also when I wanted a flavor the didn’t have they offered another one similar (maple got butterscotch they are the same to some but me I rather butterscotch) so I was extremely happy. I’m a coffee junkie so I know when a good latte is made correctly and with care. Mine was made perfectly the mmmmmmmm perfect temp and ration ❤️❤️. The shake was exactly what I needed and bonus vitamin C because I’m under the weather today! I almost forgot my sons cookie for after school so I was that pain that had to add to an order after I said I was done and they were super nice about it! All around I look forward to not only my coffee or the food but I love the people they are always so awesome and smiling saying hi asking how my son is. I love the feel of the welcomed environment even if it’s busy. It’s all about the connection they are always 5 stars in my...
