Maple Street Biscuit Company — Restaurant in Daphne

I went to the Daphne Alabama location two times just to make sure my review was accurate. During my first trip we waited 25 minutes to order then we had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes. After we were seated we waited for 60 min before we finally notified management that we still hadn't gotten our food. The manager brought out our food about 15 minutes after we notified her.

She apologized and gave us a card for two free complementary meals under 50.00. Now, the food quality was no better than other restaurants that serve breakfast but the price for four was almost $100.00. Since the first experience was very bad, I wanted to use the complementary card for a second visit to see if anything had changed especially in regards to food quality.

This morning we went to the restaurant and it took about 10 minutes to order. Our order was for two hashbrown bowls, two biscuits, two drinks and one order of grits. This food came out to be a little under 50.00. I presented the card and was told I still owed nearly 25.00. I asked why and I was told that the card only covered the two hashbrown bowls and nothing else.

This was very frustrating but I was here to do a review so I continued and paid. We found a seat quickly then waited for 25 minutes for them to bring out the unfilled orange juice and cold coffee drink. The orange juice was warm but it was fresh squeeze or at least it tasted like it. We waited another 25 minutes to get our food which was very subpar to say the least. The grits was mush but not bad, the bowl was a little cold with largely chopped up ingredients which lacked taste but was really salty.

The biscuits were hard and cold, which is thier signature item so we didn't even eat them. We did take our leftovers home which was most of the meal. NOW, I encourage you to look at the photos I have added and make your own assessment. As you look at them you can clearly see the filth and unclean dishes. Sadly, the second visit was actually worse than the first visit.

The atmosphere had a lot to be desired cause it felt like we were herded like live stock with money in our pockets then over charged for mediocre food at best and good luck finding a seat, that was like being on a game show cause just as you found one, someone else had already claimed it.

We ordered 3 chicken and waffles and one other entree. The young woman at the register read back to us 3 chicken and waffles but only rang us up for 2 which we didn’t know until they brought out the other dishes. When they brought out the biscuits with icing I went looking for silverware to eat it with and the older lady at the front said “they’re coming” with an attitude as if we should know that we had to wait until the main dishes came out to get silverware. So there we sat waiting for the silverware. They had the silverware sitting there at the counter. I’m not sure why it was important to hold them hostage until the main dishes came out. Later, when the younger one brought out two of the main dishes, she only brought two silverware wraps. Why not just bring all 4 for us so we could eat the iced biscuit appetizer? She brought out the third dish without silverware at all so I asked for some and she snapped at me “I’m the only one” meaning she’s the only one expediting. Literally there were 5 tables with people. And yes if she’s the only one, it’s ok if you forget something but because she’s the “only one” I’d like to catch her while she’s still near us. I would just like to say, Kennedy was a ray of sunshine as she greeted me, asked if she could assist me, gave me my order & helped me with the coffee area. Several employees asked if they could assist me. They were all so kind & helpful. This was my first time picking up an order in the Daphne location & didn’t know where to pickup my online order because I usually order from the Mobile location that offers curbside pickup (FYI online orders are kept in the DoorDash order area). I liked the open kitchen where you could see in while you’re ordering. Everyone in the kitchen appeared to be working like a well oiled machine. I usually order their chicken & waffles (my absolute favorite item on their menu) but I tried a bacon, egg & cheese biscuit with pepper jelly and a Maple Vanilla Latte for the first time. It was ok.
