Didn't even know this coffee shop was here! So funny too as I was heading to Fort Lauderdale for an appointment and was going to find a coffee shop near there to chill until my appt time.
I saw all these new spots open up in this area so I drove by and accidentally found Cubico Coffee. It's tucked away in a corner after you pass Pho Kitchen Bar, which we frequent, and Sushi Song which is a new sushi spot that opened up in this area too.
The space at Cubico Coffee is cute and inviting. There is plenty of seating outside and inside. Love the long bar that overlooks the barista making your coffee. The menu looked interesting as there were cool and unique latte options. Blue lattes peaked my interest. Although I really wanted to try the lavender + taro latte, I opted to try something new and went with the Shark Latte which had coconut condensed milk, blue spiralina for that natural blue hue and cinnamon.
I got a medium Shark Latte and my total came out to $11.47, this included a $2 tip. Not gonna lie, it was pricey. But to be fair, I got oatmilk and that is usually considered extra. Not sure how pricing worked but after looking at my receipt, my drink was $8.85 + $0.95 oatmilk + $0.95 12oz fee? The menu notes a Shark Latte is $6.25 for hot and $7.25 for cold options. I got a medium for $8.85 but then I was charged an additional fee for 12 oz? It's confusing and expensive. A plain latte costs $4.75. I understand the additional costs for the specialty drinks which I usually like to try. But this seems a bit much?
The barista was so nice and was apologetic for not getting my latte art just right. It's ok, he tried and that counts. The drink wasn't super sweet which was nice but I didn't looooove it either. Not for almost $12. Regardless, I appreciated the new spot for coffee and will come back to try the other flavors. I always want to support local businesses when I can. But I may stick to a small or regular coffee as to not...
Read moreCame to the shop for the pastries, so I can't attest to the coffee.
Got 3 different flavors Croissants 2 of each flavor and ended paying $50.
I truly don't mind paying for a good quality and good flavor pastry but it was a huge letdown.
They buy frozen Croissants, baking them or buying already baked Croissants and just cut them to half to put a layer of the flavor and have the nerve to charge $6 to $9 each.
For example the raspberry just injected with some publix jar quality jelly.
The Nutella they just take a Croissant cut to half and put a smir of Nutella that doesn't taste great.
The Croissants were on the small side and dry which let me believe they were not baked fresh on a Sunday as I was there early in the morning Sunday.
Nothing wrong with buying a supermarket frozen Croissants and fill them but to have the audacity to charge customers as if it's a premium pastry with a "homemade" premium fillings is wrong.
The size, the flavor and the quality is not there for a $6 to $9 each.
I can assume they are not known or there for the pastries and it's just something to go along with their coffee so if anyone think of going there JUST for pastries, I wouldn't...
Read moreHow disappointing. Why would you stop offering pour overs of the beans you roast? My only option is 1 type of micro roast at almost $10 a cup (that isn't always in stock)! Or a Keurig cup at over $4 with a bitter after taste. I have made Cubico my coffee shop since 2021. I have purchased a ton of roasted beans as I do pour over at my home as well as brew my own cold brew. Occasionally, I like to meet with friends and open them up to what it is to have a freshly roasted , freshly ground and brewed in glass container, coffee. This process offers the purest taste of the bean. There is no comparison, in my opinion. I would be happy to update the star rating if you bring back this essential method of brewing and the very thing that made you stand out from the rest. May I also remind you that this allows the customer the option to sample bean origins before purchasing bags of...
