There’s a quiet charm to places that don’t try too hard where the flavors speak louder than the decor and the warmth of the food outshines the Instagrammable plating. Taco Love in Davie, Florida, is one of those places. You might walk in thinking it’s just another taco joint tucked away in a plaza, but one bite in and you realize they know exactly what they’re doing. I went with the 3 taco combo two steak, one chorizo and it was a simple yet telling showcase of their strengths. The steak was tender with just enough char to bring out the smokiness, and the seasoning hit that perfect middle ground between bold and balanced. The chorizo? Bright, spicy, rich exactly what you want from chorizo without being greasy or overwhelming. Each taco came nestled in a corn tortilla that held up without getting soggy, which is rarer than it should be. But the standout dish was the birria quesadilla. If you’re expecting a standard quesadilla, forget it. This thing is decadent, gooey, and dripping with flavor. The birria is slow-cooked to that tender, fall-apart consistency, with a deep, savory broth that makes the accompanying consommé an experience on its own. Dipping the crispy-edged quesadilla into that broth is a ritual that should be mandatory. To drink, I went with the watermelon margarita, which managed to be both refreshing and not overly sweet, a tough balance to strike. The fresh watermelon came through cleanly, and the rim of Tajín was a smart touch that added brightness and a little heat. Service was quick, the staff were chill but attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh. Taco Love doesn’t try to be trendy,it just gets the fundamentals right and adds enough personality to keep you coming back. If you’re in Davie or even remotely nearby,it’s worth the detour. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. This is the kind of spot you tell your friends about like it’s a secret, even though you secretly hope it stays just busy enough not to change.

We came here for taco Tuesday and were sorely disappointed. Upon ordering we realized their $3 taco Tuesday deal only applies to SOME of the tacos available and only if you order 3 of the same kind. It’s extra for sauce, cheese, and most of the meats. You order at a screen, but of course are still prompted to tip. There is no real “service” to speak of, and it’s hard to hear them calling out the order numbers if you’re not seated directly next to the pickup counter. The parking is tight, we had to park in the garage they have in the back. This all would have been forgiven had they provided us with delicious tacos… sadly that was not the case. The flavors are underwhelming to say the least. We ordered the Korean bbq chicken tacos, shrimp tacos both fried and grilled, carne asada tacos, and fried mahi tacos. The grilled shrimp tacos were overcooked and rubbery, the Korean fried chicken taco was also overcooked and laden in a gochujang sauce that was overwhelming instead of complimentary, the fish tacos had a great fry and crisp but did not taste seasoned, the carne asada was good but not great. The best of the bunch was the fried shrimp tacos, but even so it was the fact that they were crispy that enticed us, not the flavor or rather lack thereof. The fish tacos and the shrimp tacos had a generous portion of slaw on top but the slaw had an off-putting refrigerator taste clinging to it. Having lived in San Diego and Texas, we know what good tacos taste like and sadly this did not meet our standards on flavor. Tacos are not that difficult to perfect, any basic cook can create a delicious taco at home with some basic ingredients and time. For 2 people we spent $40, on a taco Tuesday when we were expecting to spend around $24. We will not be back, our saving grace was finding the gelato store Nextdoor. We will definitely return there, but never again to taco love.

Lets taco about Taco Love!! Girlfriend and I decided to come and have lunch here after a long morning. The place is really neat and it is very colorful. I like that there’s some swinging chairs to dine at. Unlike most places where you sit and have a waitress present you a menu, the establishment has a row of kiosk where you place your order… very tech and super convenient. Also super cool concept. Placed my order and order 3 tacos, some chips and salsas, a mango margarita, and a ube tres leches. My 3 tacos consisted of carne asada, pork belly and a Korean BBQ. I really enjoyed the pork belly one as it was very flavorful, the carne asada was good but, I have had better elsewhere. As for the Korean BBQ it was unique but I didn’t like it as much. If you are a fan of kimchi then go for it, if not try ordering something else. My GF also ordered 3 tacos. She had the mahi-mahi, beef barbacoa and citrus grilled pork. All 3 of her options were very delicious but I really enjoyed the citrus grilled pork, now that was out of this world! The chips and salsas were made on site, as were the sauces. I had ordered my chips with a chipotle crema sauce and an avocado crema. The chipotle creams was banging!! The mango margarita was wonderful and refreshing. Now the Ube tres leches… wow, that is one of the best tres leches I’ve had in a while. Gf had a taste and said it was too sweet compared to hers (she order a regular tes leches). I didn’t think it was too sweet but just right! I liked the vibe this place brought and the music was enjoyable too. I will definitely come back to try more dishes, as I did notice that a lot of patrons whom where dining in had order bowls, so I’m excited to try those the next time I’m here. 10/10 definitely recommend.

It was just the first time we had gone there so the food was actually quite good they do only give you a small portion of salsa I suppose I could have asked for extra sauce but you know wanted to go with the flow on how they actually did things. Of course the people were nice they have free water and that's either flavored with lemon or lemon and cucumber That was awesome! Not because it was free but because it was a nice little twist on just go to the fountain or you're forced to buy bottled water I thought that was really cool. It's a pretty comprehensive menu without being overwhelming but the size of the burrito was just absolutely massive and I have zero complaints about it because I ate the whole thing I got the shredded beef and my friend got the cork both of them were equally good cuz we tried each other's a bite of each other's burrito. Now one of the downsides and I understand that taco love is not really responsible for this but there is not a whole lot of handicap friendly seating. If I had gone in in a wheelchair I'm not quite sure how we would have handled it but again they did have some regular kind of like the outdoor plastic chairs and that could have been moved out of the way I'm sure they would have been accommodating. The service is you order at the counter and then you wait for them to call you to come retrieve your order now if I had been alone I'm not sure how I would have made it to the table because I use a walker and having to carry my plate would have been a bit of an issue but again you know if you don't ask you don't get help so I'm sure they would have tried to find some accommodation for me. Now the biggest downside of that plaza especially in front of Taco Love is there are it's been designed that there are two steps to get up to the level that you can walk into the restaurant I didn't find a handicapped accessible method of going up even you know a reasonable size ramp at which is certainly could have been built into the structure everything looks good but that's the problem it leaves out a portion of the population that is elderly frail or disabled I mean what would you do if somebody was bringing their you know wheelchair dependent child in? The family would have to pick everything up and I think this is you know a real missing link with a lot of designs in restaurant spaces as well as possibly other service oriented places. I couldn't see it would be ridiculous for me to have to walk three or four stores down when the parking was in front of Taco love just so I could get up a ramp and I did not see one nor did it I we see anything when we were driving through the parking lot and although we may have missed it how far away are you supposed to park from your desired location just to be able to access it? In addition while I was able to get up those two steps getting down had I gone there on my own would have been nearly an impossibility and I would have fallen so that would be something to take a look at I mean not everybody carries their own wheelchair / walker ramp with them and I'm not sure that that's so safe anyway when it could have been built in out of concrete Great look bad function. I'm surprised that the town of Davie didn't have more stringent requirements seeing as how even with the fact that it is considered a college town there are many long-time residents who are now senior citizens. In addition to which age is not the only factor there are families with young children or even college students that may need some assistance going up and down the steps. This is definitely an...
