BOY, HAS THIS PLACE FALLEN OFF!!! OUCH!! I was just in there with my dad. This place used to be the spot I would go to have dinner with the family and friends once or twice a week. I seriously used to love eating here. A little while back something changed, and NOT for the better. I guess this place isn’t associated with the other Disalvos restaurants any longer. I imagine they sold or cut ties with this one and I don’t blame them. The food, service, attitude, staff, the entire vibe is different. Awkward and uncomfortable to say the least. The food, went downhill, in flavor and presentation. Especially the pizza. HUGE bummer. Anyway, on to today’s experience... I was hoping for a better experience this time. Unfortunately, somehow, it has gotten WORSE. I am really disappointed to even be writing a review like this but it is warranted 100%. Today, I went in with my father to get a few lunch specials. The specials end at 4pm. We arrived at 3:49. We waited online behind a few people who were having a lengthy conversation with the host, friends apparently. The place was otherwise totally empty. Never a good sign. So, anyway, someone FINALLY, acknowledges us...at 4:01. The guy behind the front counter, he appeared to be about 15 with a Frankenstein haircut and he had a tattoo of like pearls or sperm or something around his neck asks us for our order and when we mentioned which specials we wanted, he said we couldn’t order them as it was now 4:01. When I pointed out that we had been waiting for more than ten minutes just to get acknowledged, let alone sat, he said again that we couldn’t order the specials. Awkward. We left. For a business to make a mistake, like having it’s only customers stand around aimlessly for ten minutes is bad enough, most restaurants would’ve probably tried to make up for the faux pax with a free soda or fries or something but this place actually tried to PUNISH us, as customers, for having been WAITING ON THEM. That’s crazy. So, yeah, we left without ordering anything. BUT WAIT...THERES MORE! So, I thought to myself, “I’m sure if a manager was aware that this happened, they would want to make it right, right?” Before leaving the parking lot, I called their number and after being asked by like three different people why I wanted to speak with the manager they finally put him on the phone. I started explaining the situation, and after about a minute or so, the same voice I had just been transferred from said to me that HE DIDNT CARE that we had been waiting and that it was their fault we missed the specials. I asked again if I was speaking with an actual manager and he said he was the only manager they had. GUESS WHAT, that same 15 year old sperm tattoo guy is their “manager!” What a nightmare. When I asked if there was anyone else I could speak with he said “no one is allowed to talk to the owner” and he hung up on me! This place has gone from bad to worse to absolute garbage. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, ever. The food sucks, the staff sucks, everything about this place sucks now. I can see why this place gets such horrible reviews now. Ps. We ended up going around the corner to another spot (Geronimo's) for burgers and drinks and they were awesome! DiSalvos, never again. Seriously. Never....
Read moreIf I could give this place a zero I would. I grew up on Disalvo’s in plantation and it wasn’t a question to use them for catering for an event. In the beginning Dennis, the manager, was very helpful, informative and had great suggestions. After the event, he was a completely different person. It was night and day. We ordered a few different options and paid for delivery and tip included and set up from what Dennis told us. Perfect! No problem. When the driver arrived he literally dropped the food and had no idea what to do. He didn’t want to set up and said someone in the party told him to leave everything and left. These platters came with sternos that we paid for and they didn’t even give us extra trays to fill with water to avoid the food being burned, we had no choice but to go that route and some of the food was slightly burned due to their lack of supplies and didn’t even set up which we paid for. Dennis said he would include extra dressing, didn’t get any. The lettuce pieces were probably the size of our hand. When we called Dennis to tell him what happened, he took NO responsibility or accountability. He said he didn’t believe us and his staff wouldn’t lie and wouldn’t do that. We weren’t even asking for a full refund back, we just wanted a refund for the salads because they were not edible for the guest and we had to buy more lettuce and cut it ourselves. It felt like I was speaking with a person who didn’t care at all about his business and was like “oh, we’ll, sucks for you!” He said someone would call us or the owner and nothing happened. I have worked in the restaurant business, customer service and even event sales and I never in life experienced the worst managerial experience in my life from Dennis and the restaurant. Disalvo’s is a great restaurant but not the Davie one and def stay away from catering. If the owner reads this I would definitely find a new manager or train Dennis to have some respect and...
Read moreThe owner Steve is rude, full of himself and a deceitful businessman. I placed a takeout order yesterday which my husband picked up. He had a clipp coupon/certificate for $25.00 dollars. The coupon clearly stated it was good for dine in or take out. Steve Disalvo would not honor the coupon. He said it was not good for take out. I spoke to Steve on the telephone this morning. He asked me how many of the coupons I had. I told him I did not know but I usually buy 5 at a time . He told me that you can only buy 2 at a time which is not true. My husband paid $21.00 cash for our order. He should have been able to use the $25.00 coupon and pay only a dollar and change as our order came to $26.00 and change. Steve gave him 20 percent off the bill. Really!!!!! You have to be kidding me!!! When I told him there was no reason why we should not be able to use the clipp coupon he told me he was the owner and could do what he wanted to do. Why would he advertise with CLIPP and not accept the certificate. We paid $12.50 for a $25.00 certificate. He kept my coupon/ certificate and I told him my husband was going to come by and pick it up. He refused to give it back to us!!!! I again told him I wanted it back and he told me he ripped it up. The only reason we go there is because it is around the corner from our house. The pizza is OK when they get our order right. We would and now will make the drive out west to Flamingo Road to John The Baker where he does not take any coupons but it is well worth the price as their pizza is DELICIOUS as well as their other food. When you are paying for OK pizza the coupon is a benefit. Pizza is the only food we order from Disalvos as all their other food is HORRIBLE - I am Italian and grew up on Italian food and have been to Italy over a dozen and a half times and I know what quality Italian food is. Steve Disalvo you have no manners, no business sense and should be ashamed...
