So I sit down and order coffee. The waitress explains they are making a fresh pot and she’ll bring me some when it’s ready. I wait 5 minutes while other tables are sat. She brings them coffee and tops everyone else off. We order food and I remind her about the coffee. I wait again the food comes out no coffee. I eat my food and no one comes by I can flag. I finish my food and am ready to pay. I remind the waitress when I ask the check I never got coffee and I ask if I can get it to go. She goes to ask the manager or owner if that’s ok. I walk up at the same time to try to explain why I am asking for it but the grumpy man throws his hands up and grumbles we don’t do to go coffee. I continued to try to speak and he walked away from me. I just want to say I completely understand why a small breakfast joint would have a rule on coffee to go from a liability standpoint especially given how sue happy are society has become. So here’s my issue with this. The horrible customer service. Had he listened to me and maybe even apologized and promised to make it right next time or offered to take the coffee off my bill i would have no issue and gone about my day. However instead his response prompted us to blacklist the place for 2 years flicking it off each time we drove past it. We had originally planned on eating there every weekend. So 2 years later we said hey maybe we punished them enough with lack of business and should just give them a second chance since the food was decent and close to the house. We had a satisfactory breakfast, food and service wise. When the waitress brings me the check she asked me if I would like a coffee to go!?!?!?!? I was completely in shock, awe, and dumbfoundedly...
Read moreWent to Harvest Cafe in Davie by accident. We were looking for another breakfast spot nearby, but it was closed. I was impressed with the compliance with Covid-19 restrictions. There was hands-free hand sanitizer at the entrance and all the staff wore masks. Proper distance between booths and tables. An issue with this review is one of the patrons was extremely loud. Not somewhat loud. But the type of loud that everyone in the restaurant can hear every single word of the conversation no matter where they're seated. This is an awkward situation for management to address, but people don't come to breakfast to hear this. The man was both crude and loud.
Breakfast didn't go as planned. My guest ordered Eggs Benedict. She termed it 'okay' despite having a strong craving for eggs Benedict and getting overcharged for it because of Hollandaise Sauce (the special did not say this was extra). I ordered a two-egg sandwich with sausage. It was slightly dry, but not bad.
Our server was friendly, professional, and fast to take our order (two regular coffees) and come back with drinks and breakfast. A disposable menu would be preferable, but my guest noted there was a QR code for a digital menu that I missed. No one will write home about their experience at Harvest Cafe, but it's sufficient when you're hungry and in that part of Davie. With a few tweaks, I'd consider...
Read moreA little piece of home away from home! This place is a little hole in the wall in a shopping center on Stirling Road just east of University Drive. Feels like you were anywhere else in the country, not South Florida.
You can get anything you can think of here: eggs, omelet, hash browns, grits, pancakes, waffles, you name it! When you walk inside, it is very informal, casual atmosphere.
With the decor, once you step inside, you feel like you're leaving the brutally hot, sub-tropical molasses pit and chaos of the insanely Urban South Florida and stepping into another world.
You might as well be walking into a breakfast shop up north in the neighborhood around the corner as dawn breaks before a great backpacking adventure in the Northwoods, or finding some hidden stretches of river in the Pacific Northwest to traverse, or maybe exploring deep pools where the true kings, fall Chinook, hang out.
The service is down home and friendly. The food is amazing and the prices are cheap. Everything to remind you of home, which could be anywhere up north and outdoors.
When you leave, all the chaos, noise and blistering heat will be there to smack you in the face again. But at least for a few moments, you're...
