We will never be back after what happened here today. Me and my husband had a stamp card here, mostly pre pandemic stamps but we got a few more stamps on to finish it as we've enjoyed supporting this business in the form of buying breakfast burritos over the course of the pandemic.
However My husband went in to get his freebie for filling the stamp card this morning and to make a long story short he was accused of being a liar, told he had faked their stamps on two of the squares and had the card taken from him, and was charged the full price for his order and given a new stamp card. The two stamps they questioned we actually remember as being a day when they ran out of ink and used a different marker. My husband specifically asked the guy working that day If the different colour would be a problem and he said no.
Frankly I can't imagine Davis is the place where people try steal breakfast burritos from local businesses but maybe I am mistaken. I just doubt the davis residents are that badly in need of food they need to make counterfeit stamps.
All I know is as a paying customer it's disappointing when a business doesn't follow though with stamp cards, at least be honest and admit you clearly just don't want to pay out and get rid of the stamps system altogether instead of trying to accuse long standing customers of being dishonest.
It’s disappointing as before this incident this would have been a 5 star review spot for me. I’ve eaten at this place since I moved to davis, and my husband and his family have eaten here as long as the business has been in town. We’re good honest people and this business made us feel like they thought we were some kind of scummy cheapskates for trying to redeem rewards we earned
Also to add the girl working at the counter checked with her boss on the issue, so this is a business practice not just the fault or judgement of one of their employees.
I know we won't be back here again and will be taking breakfast burrito business over to the elephant shack in woodland. It’s worth the drive for their honest...
Read moreCame here from the recommendation of an Aggie who said Ali Baba was his go-to spot for burritos, specifically vegetarian breakfast burritos.
It was super crowded when we came in for lunch around 11 AM on a Saturday. It remained crowded throughout the entire time. Luckily, we grabbed a table in the corner to eat. It was a bit hard navigating the napkins, water cups, and sauces while there's a bunch of people standing around.
We ordered using the screen on the side of the restaurant. I think you can also order at the cashier?
We didn't hear our name called, so we just had an estimate of when it'd be done and we picked up the food when we thought it was ready. It seemed like it was done way sooner than we thought.
I'm not the world's expert on breakfast burritos, but nothing stood out to me about it. Maybe it was the buildup of anticipation before our first bite. Maybe it was the crowd of people that made it feel like they were also here for this burrito. I drowned it in hot sauce and ate it anyway.
I could see it being a worthwhile thing if I was a broke college student who needed to get full quickly. However, it's not something I...
Read moreUsed google to get phone number and called the restaurant. It was difficult to understand the person but managed to get the order placed. Tried to confirm store location but language was an issue. Shortly after placing the order I Realized it was in Davis and not Chico. Called to cancel order but person didn’t know how to help me. He said he would have owner call me. Owner texted me instead and said this has happened before so he requires payment in advance. This is a strange policy. It seems to take advantage of an unknowing customer. Perhaps he should instruct his employee to clarify the store location before taking the order. And make sure his employee can communicate appropriately with customers. Owner was not willing to do anything to help me. First and foremost, the restaurant business is a customer service business and the business owner was interested only in capturing the $70 order and not helping me out. For this reason, I recommend you don’t go to...
