I understand this restaurant is popular but I have to say the service was quite bad. The host was very rude from the moment I walked in. He said there would be a 1-hour wait to get a table but he seemed too aggressive in the way he talked to me. I didn't walk under the rain to be treated poorly in this restaurant. I saw people waiting outside for a table but I didn't want to wait outside because it was raining. The host said I needed to get a drink and I explained I had to wait for my two friends to show up. Frankly at this point I would've left if I didn't have to wait for my friends. When my friends arrived the host was again rude to them then we approached the bar to order a drink and the host told us to wait at a table next the entrance, but he talked to us again in a very aggressive way. When he was gone we were finally able to order our drinks at the bar and then go back to the table to wait. Both of my friends were surprised to see how rude the host was with us and other customers too. Was that because he was stressed maybe because the place was understaffed? I have no idea but I think customers should be treated better. I guess the policy of the restaurant is being somewhat aggressive, they don't accept some credit cards, no Google pay or anything like that, you need a key to use the restroom, etc. Finally after 45 minutes we got a table and our waiter was ok and I must say I enjoyed the food. But would I go back to this restaurant? Not really. A restaurant isn't only about food. Service matters. And this place needs to improve a lot in that aspect.

Don’t go there cuz they will recognize your US government issued ID as fake and ruined your best time with your friends. You will waste hours for calling the police and get your ID back without the police getting there, and with no apologize. If you have to go there, plan your whole night for their kindly service and the money you want to throwing away. ā¤ļøšŸŒ™ As you can see, still absolutely no apologies for mis-recognizing a real ID. Even calling my name with their noble mouth.😊Remember to show every possibly prove to get their permission to enter their place (obviously they are questioning my existence) and to get the food they bestows you. šŸ«¶šŸ» To the restaurant’s lying face: If you have problems with how officers took the photo, report them. If you're ignorant enough to believe that the issue date must be the same as the expiration date, learn your law before you abusing it without any of your respect. Shame on you to lie about a 6 months old ID void on UV. Keep your attitude with all the customers who feeds you, good job šŸ‘

Yuchan Shokudo has some of the best ramen I’ve had! The ordering and seating process did not take long and it was nice to order at the counter without worrying about the check at the end. The atmosphere inside feels like a perfect cozy place to enjoy your meal and the service was prompt and friendly. After ordering, it did not take long for our food to arrive. The takoyaki had the perfect texture and the octopus inside was delicious. I ordered the shoyu ramen and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The chashu was rich, the broth had layers of flavor, and the noodles were perfectly springy. The tonkotsu ramen was equally delicious, especially with the notes of black garlic and spicy kara-miso to cut through the creamy broth. I am looking forward to our next visit and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality ramen and Japanese food in Davis!

Although the cuisine is pretty fair, their business practices are not so good and makes the restaurant and owner(s) come across very cheap and careless how they may come across to their customers.

I ordered a $15 Ika (calamari) dish which contained 6 small pieces, which made the dish $3 for each piece. Quite a lot if you ask me. Once at my table, I asked the server if my dish comes with a dipping sauce? She replied, "Yes, you have a choice of Spicy or Regular Garlic Mayo sauce". I chose Regular Mayo sauce.

Once my dish arrived, I noticed that there were no sauces. I asked my server, who responded that it does not come with it, but for a $1 I could get one. So, I gave my server $1 and thought that was it.

Well not quite!!!!! My server came back and said I forgot to include the tax!!!! and the price is now $1.18. So I gave her an additional 25c and to keep the change.

Well not quite over yet!!!!. My server came back and asked for 3c more because the total price is now $1.28. I told her that I could not believe she came back for 3c???? She insisted that I must give her an additional 3c which I did not have in my pocket and therefore one of my guests gave her a nickel.

The unfortunate bottom line for these practices is that the restaurant put its reputation on the line for a lousy $1.28, but more importantly for the additional 3 cents by coming back to my table and asking for it.

My recommendation is to ask questions at the time of the order and to read the menu carefully, which says the sauce is an extra $1 and do not take for granted whatever the servers are telling you.

Food for thoughts, no...

If you’re a ramen enthusiast, this place is an absolute must-visit. From the moment I stepped through the door, I could already smell the rich, savory aromas wafting through the air — a promise of the amazing meal ahead. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern vibe that made me feel right at home.

Now, let's talk about the ramen. It was nothing short of spectacular. The broth? Perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of depth and richness. Each spoonful was comforting, full of umami, and left me savoring every drop. The noodles were cooked to perfection — firm yet tender, with a delightful bite. They paired beautifully with the broth, creating that perfect slurp every ramen lover craves.

What really stood out, though, was the staff. The service was attentive, friendly, and made me feel like a valued guest. They really know their stuff and were more than happy to offer recommendations based on my preferences.

Overall, this place has quickly become one of my go-to spots for ramen. The food, the atmosphere, and the wonderful staff make it a top-notch experience. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out — your taste buds...
