Potbelly — Restaurant in Dayton

I am writing this review after several instances of bad service from rude, unprofessional employees.

I walked into the empty store tonight and was initially ignored- OK, not a big issue- by two female employees gossiping loudly. I approached the counter and attempted to order a sandwich with all included toppings plus tomato and onion but was interrupted before I could finish the word 'onion' so she could tell me I would be asked about toppings while the sandwich was being made. I thought three simple instructions would be easy enough to remember and was annoyed at being interrupted but was understanding because I had forgotten their protocol. She continued to interrupt me throughout EVERY step of the ordering process. After I finished, the other girl started making my sandwich while the one who took my order went to sit up on a counter where completed orders are placed and put her dirty shoes up on the shelf below where bags for orders are stored and took out her phone. During this time, both are still gossiping loudly, which was very off-putting, to say the least. The girl making my sandwich eventually asked if I wanted everything included on the sandwich. I say "Yes, everything". I was not asked about or given an option to add anything else to it and before I knew it, my order was handed to me. I tell them I had already explained I wanted two additional toppings and was told I would be asked about this while the sandwich was made. Both employees immediately began heatedly arguing with me and acted outraged, eventually cut me off (again) and ran to the back together to go get the manager. The manager was friendly, apologetic and remade my sandwich, double checking to get the correct toppings. I could clearly hear the girls in the back room practically screaming obscenities about me the remainder of my time there. I looked at the sandwich they made to find they had actually added literally every other topping on the menu. Nice. Zero care or communication skills, just entitlement and serious lack of professionalism.

This is not the first time I've had a bad experience at this store. Several times I have ordered online and had missing toppings from my sandwiches, including two instances of missing avocado from the AVO turkey sandwich. The last time I came to pick up an online order (from an empty store), I waited at the counter several minutes while my order sat behind the counter on a shelf and all employees could be heard talking and gossiping in the back room. I eventually got fed up and walked behind the counter, grabbed my bag and left.

I’m a frequent customer at this Potbelly’s store on Brown Street The staff is always inviting and personable for the most part, however recently I have been noticing some things that don’t sit right with me. Sometimes I call in to place bigger orders for our company lunches and its pretty routine at this point what happens next….. either a rude lady answers and says they can’t take orders from a certain time because they are too busy or a guy picks up and gets my order taken down for me right on the spot, with no complaints. I’m not sure if these two individuals are managers but always seems to be the same two. I find that odd to get such inconsistency from one location and it seems to trace back to one female employee. I really find it odd when I come to place my order in person like she told me too (bcuz they were too busy to take over the phone) but upon arrival she is outside kissing and getting felt up while they are slammed with people in line. Well if you are so busy maybe you shouldn’t be playing grab ass with some guy and start helping the rest of the workers in the kitchen! I don’t think that’s right and I hate seeing those real workers struggle while others watch and do nothing. I generally don’t complain bcuz I work in customer service and know how hard it can be, but I have sat on this and after giving that place two more chance since this incident I have decided that I will probably take my business on my lunch breaks elsewhere. I work on a college campus and don’t see this type of behavior from young kids in school but yet you guys are allowing someone in your uniform representing your brand be sexually explicit out in open while on your clock....

I love potbelly, I always get the same thing. And now they offer delivery? Awesome!

Called in, placed my usual order and was quoted $5 over what I pay in the store. I asked if that included tip or was just the delivery fee (because that's hefty); the lady taking my order did not know, and put me in touch with her manager. He confirmed that my total was incorrect and that he would wave the delivery fee &charge my card accordingly.

40 minutes later I call in to confirm nothing has gone awry with my order; it has. The original order did not include the request to call upon delivery and the driver was not given a phone number, so now he cant find me. I'm glad I called when I did, so I go to get the food & I'm charged more than the manager confirmed with me. I still dont know if this is just the delivery fee or if a tip is included- no one ever answered that for me.

But thankfully my food is still warm & delicious, but I do not think I will order delivery again. It...
