My husband and I stayed at this location this past weekend. We stayed for one night with a 2pm check out. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the front desk receptionists and had a easy check in. We reserved and paid for the room via Booking.com but paid the $50 deposit with my credit card. Our room was clean, there was a decent pool with a hot tub, and the majority of our stay was enjoyable until the day of our check out.
We had already set our late check out when we checked in- and also had a DND sign on our door knob. However, we were startled by LOUD banging on the door from housekeeping around 1:00pm. I advised the housekeeper we would be gone within the hour as we had a late check out for 2 . Around 1:20 we started taking out luggage out and down to our vehicle. At this point the housekeeper was standing directly outside our door waiting for us to go- which made us feel a little uneasy. We said hello, smiled and the housekeeper was clearly upset, but we just went about our business. When coming back to the room again to grab the last of our bags- my husband overheard the housekeeper complaining to another employee about how she upset that she had to "wait for us to leave so she could go home." At this point we felt extremely rushed, uneasy and unwelcome but as someone who was a housekeeper for many years, I always make it a point to leave a hotel room clean when I leave. Before leaving I stripped the bed down, bagged up all the trash, and even wiped down the desk to remove the grease from the food we ate for lunch. I put all the linens and trash in the bathtub and even made sure all the lights were off. Again, as we left the housekeeper was STILL directly outside of our room, at this point making it even difficult to walk through the hallway with our bags. We attempted to speak to the housekeeper again as we were leaving and we were both rudely ignored by her.
After leaving I got a alert from my bank stating that there was a $150.00 charge from the property. I called the property to question what the charge was and was told we were charged due to evidence of smoking in the room. I was not told what "evidence" this was. When asking the employee at the front desk when I would be able to speak with a manager regarding this- he simply told me that the manager was out and I could leave a voicemail, and they would get back to me when they could.
My husband is a severe asthmatic who requires multiple breathing treatments a day. There is absolutely no way there was any evidence of smoking in our room, whatsoever. We are both Bonvoy members and have stayed at several different properties and have never been treated so rudely by any employees. I believe this housekeeper told the front desk that there was "evidence" of smoking due to the fact she was upset that she was unable to leave because of having to stay to clean our room. I am more than disappointed with how this was handled by this property. We were wrongly charged and this property has made no efforts to make this situation right.

Read moreWe stayed at this Marriott for a wedding, the rooms were part of a Wedding block. Upon arriving at the Marriott it looked impressive with a modern lobby, staff was friendly. When headed up to our room it was filled with disappointment. The room size was too small for this family of 4. We had two double beds in our room which took up the entire room. It would be interesting to see what the square feet of these rooms are, it felt smaller than other rooms we have stayed in. I would compare the size of the room to staying at a hotel in Manhattan where room sizes are much smaller due to the number of people Manhattan hotels accommodate each year. However, we were staying in Dayton, Ohio.
Since we were staying for 3 nights, it would've been nice to have a dresser to put our things in so the clutter was out of the way. However, there are no drawers or dressers so everything was laid out on the floor or on top of shelving which just made everything look more crowded and messy. There was a wardrobe not a regular closet. You couldn't even hide your suitcase inside the wardrobe because it was too small.
The room was also dusty, the vent area in the room was covered with dust which had spread to a spot on the ceiling near the vent. The spots looked like dust that was sitting there for awhile or possibly even mold. This spot was directly above where my son (who happens to have asthma) was sleeping. When I complained at the front desk they were accommodating. They sent the engineer upstairs to look at it. He promised to have it cleaned up when we left the room, which he followed through with. When we returned to our room, the spot was cleaned up but the dust in the room was still all over everything.
My biggest complaint about the room is the bathroom door. When traveling with kids, it would be nice to have an actual door with a lock on it. Instead this Marriott has a "barn" style door that slides open and close. Imagine being in the bathroom when your kids think it's a fun idea to slide the door open and close, this was definitely irritating.
The other complaint I have is about the pool area. The pool is not heated and my kids were shivering while in the water. The only reason we took advantage of the blocked rooms here was because it offered a pool which was hardly used because it was too cold.
This experience has made me realize how much I appreciate Hilton hotels and will therefore not consider a Marriott...
We were there as part of the FamilyLife Weekend to Remember (WtR), 26-28 Oct. Upon getting inline at the reservation desk, we were promptly greeted and asked if we could be helped. The representative was very courteous and welcoming! After giving our names, we were assigned a room and given directions to the elevator to our room on the 2nd floor. The room was very nice from the decorations to the bedding to the fixtures. Very modern. However, it was cold in the room, and we were not able to tweak the temperature to maintain a comfortable room temperature. Plus, when we tried to sleep at night, the constant on and off of the heating system was very loud and continued to wake me up. But then that wasn't hard to do because I was also disturbed by the commotion of the gathering of people outside our door in the common area. Nice idea to establish a sitting area BUT every time we went to and left our room, we had to navigate through the mass of people who had gathered there to talk, play games and eat Outback. And they continued past our bedtime so my falling asleep had to compete with the on-again/off-again HVAC and the gathering of people outside our bedroom door. And much to our dismay, when we left the room the next morning for breakfast, there bags and bags of Outback containers that had been discarded by the gathering of people from the night before. The hallway was littered and smelled like discarded Outback food and containers. Not a good way to start our Saturday. However, the area where the WtR activities were held were spacious and free of discarded food and containers. Yet, the seminar rooms were on the cooler side to the point where I kept on my fleece jacket the entire time I was attending the seminars. It could have been a few degrees warmer to provide a more comfortable environment. Finally, the bathrooms were also centrally located, clean, and filled with the required products to accommodate the large number of people attending the...
