Alergy Alert!
Chicken was fine.
Despite when placing our order I advised of allergies ie shellfish, sweet corn, peanuts, the Wonton contained shrimp. This is shellfish. Once home and as soon as it became apparent that shrimp (shellfish!) was present in the soup, I called the Hong Kong Palace (spoke to a female) and was told categorically shrimp is not in the soup. My wife and I inspected the soup more closely and we confirmed shrimp was present. I called Hong Kong Palace again and spoke to a male who eventually advised yes, 3 shrimp was in the Wonton Soup. I was then passed to a female voice and I explained the problem and the impact of my wife consuming shellfish. I explained had the soup been eaten, I would be talking to her from the local ER. This seemed to be lost on her as the female then said, Whats the problem. At that point, despite having said previously we were not bringing the soup back for refund or anything else, I advised we would bring the soup back and show the shrimp. We returned to the Hong Kong Palace, and my wife showed the counter lady and gent her 2 x Epi Pens which she carries all the time. The conversation then turned to we, as customers, should have known our ordered soup would contain shrimp. I rejected this and stated when the order was placed on line, Hong Kong Palace should have called me and advised. They had my contact number.
The moral of the story is, if ordering from Hong Kong Palace and you have allergies, be aware of what is in the food BEFORE...
Read more22 years in Florida and the only things I miss about NYC are the seasons, my childhood, and the food.
I've been extremely disappointed with the Chinese restaurants down here, until now I haven't found anything that measures up to the NYC standard of Chinese food that I was accustomed to.
This place is excellent tho, Wohop in Chinatown comes to mind, the food is literally that good. The servings are generous, the protein portions within the servings are generous, the food is incredibly tasty with the smokey/char flavor of a well seasoned wok. The Mongolian beef and the chicken w Udon noodles were to die for.
Of all the places of tried down here, this is the only one I'll be calling again. Aaaaand they're open Christmas day.
Couldn't be happier! AAA++
Edit: I've ordered twice since this review, was not even in the same league. I spoke to someone at the restaurant, asked them what was up. She told me that Christmas Eve they were slammed, they were barely able to keep up w the demand. The only thing I can think of is, they had a temp working who can seriously cook
The flavor and texture of the the food that I twice ordered after that memorable Christmas Eve experience, mediocre to average at...
Read moreWe ordered dinner for delivery last week. Person on the phone repeated the order, everything looked good. Arrived within 40 minutes and we started on the crab Rangoon and egg rolls. We then opened our General Tao's chicken and was met with what looked like some sort of stir fry chicken and vegetables. We called and asked them to bring out the correct dish. They said they would.
But then 20 minutes later we get the inquisition phone call. What exactly did the dish look like? What did the chicken look like? Was it breaded? Did you eat or touch any of it? OMG! were they going to reheat it and give it to someone else?!? No, but they couldn't replace the incorrect dish if we had eaten any of it. Yes, God forbid we ate food while we were hungry. But luckily it had just been sitting on the counter like an uninvited guest so we still had the chance to get what we ordered! Forty minutes after that call and an inspection of the uninvited dish, we finally received our General Tso's chicken. Which by the way was not spicy like it stated on the...
