This was an interesting place to go for a family dinner, but my family will not be returning. We were not impressed with our experience, particularly given how much the meals cost.
We made a reservation shortly before coming in, and were happy that they were able to get us in. Our party of 9 was split up between two tables, which was not a big deal, but it did seem strange since we saw several tables in the place that were large enough to fit us all (and remained empty for the entirety of our visit).
Our waitress was polite enough, but she didn't seem to know much about the menu. When asked about the soup of the day (note: there are a total of two soups on their menu, one of which is the soup of the day) she had to go and check what it was, which seemed strange since even at lower-cost restaurants the wait staff always knows what the specials of the day are.
Another comment made by the waitress didn't set very well with us: one member of the party ordered a glass of Coke, and when it arrived, it tasted like seltzer water. He let the waitress know, and she came back and said everything was fine with it and "maybe you just don't like ours". She wasn't rude about it, but she certainly wasn't very polite either when he asked for a different drink.
The menu was relatively limited, and everything was very high in price. We were all able to find something that looked good, but when we our food came out, we were all a bit disappointed in the value for what you pay. For example, two of us ordered burgers (pretty much their lowest cost menu items - around $15 each for a burger + a side of fries or tots or fresh fruit, which is mostly melon) and fries. On our plate was a decent sized burger and about a dozen fries. Yes, a dozen fries. Never in my life have I seen a side of fries amount to a dozen total fries. Sides, by the way, cost $6 a piece. I am still in disbelief that they charge $6 for a dozen steak fries, but that was our experience.
While the food was largely very tasty, the meat was not cooked as ordered for every member of the party. One of the burgers was ordered medium and was so raw inside that the person who ordered it was worried he'd end up with food poisoning. One of the steaks was ordered medium and was cooked medium well. We did not complain, since our earlier comment to the waitress about the Coke was not handled well, and we just weren't in the mood to wait longer for the food to come back out.
In summary, the place just isn't worth what you pay. The food tastes good, but you can pay half the price for food just as delicious elsewhere (and probably get better...
Read moreNot a great place for those working for DoorDash, or those not eating in, in general. I have been in here multiple times while working through door dash and each and every time, I am basically completely ignored. Last night I had a delivery order from firebirds going to a firebirds customer named Kevin J, who happened to order third party through door dash, who I am contracted through. I walked in and noticed the host at the bigger counter was speaking to different customers, and due to my job being very dependent on speed, I approached another counter (small black table tucked away across the way from the larger host counter in the very front as you walk in the doors.) I said “hello, I have a DoorDash order that I am picking up for your customer, Kevin J. “Unfortunately, this “host” looked me right in the eye, gave me and my four year old daughter a very rude look and then walked away, and proceeded to walk to a group of individuals and was chatting it up while I took my phone out to inform DoorDash the speed and customer service of this restaurant is very poor and it is not my fault that I will be late to a paying firebirds customer for this reason. After about ten minutes, I was able to speak to a younger, very nice girl (wish I remembered her name, only employee that seemed non- mute) at the main hostess counter who alerted other employees with a walki talki that I was there to pick up for a firebirds customers door dash (Kevin j.) I waited another 5 minutes, and a man came out sprinting, glanced at me for a moment, and gave me the bag of food and lemonade. I said think you so much, have a great rest of your evening, gave him a smile, but he quickly walked away, not even acknowledging me. Despite the fact I had waited an extended amount of time for food that was ordered a half hour prior to my arrival to the restaurant, and then feeling bullied due to being ignored for whatever reason, I was kind to the employees who were clearly busy on a Friday night, but I wish they had the common decency to behave the same to those who are also working and just trying to make...
Read moreMy family of 5 dined at the Mason location last night for my birthday dinner. The reviews online made Firebirds look like a great pick so we decided to give it a try.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is absolutely beautiful with bottles of wine lit up in ceiling high displays. We had a reservation for 6:30 and we were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival.
My husband and I have both had bariatric surgery and can't eat much. We decided on a New York Strip dinner to share with an extra side. As soon as I said we were sharing it, the server's total demeanor changed towards our table. Service after that was very, very slow. I found this super frustrating as I shouldn't have to tell someone my medical history to keep them from simply assuming I am cheap and then treating our table as a last thought.
Anyway, the food was absolutely amazing. Our NY Strip steak was cooked to perfection. We ordered it Medium and it not only did it come out Medium but was seasoned very well. The house veggies consisted of a squash, broccoli, red onions and a carrot medley that was incredible. We ordered a mushroom and onion topper for our steak. I personally didn't like that the mushrooms were served cold (I assumed they would be hot) but my husband liked them, so I guess that was simply personal preference.
I was impressed with the overall quality of the food. The creme brulee cheesecake was delightful. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet which I appreciated.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I would go back here due to the attitude we were shown and the slow service but I do recommend their food. It was very good. So maybe we would do carry...
