We dined in at this location. We only had to wait maybe 15 minutes before we were seated. We were asked about viewing the menu online. I said ok thinking that we could use the little tablet thing at our table but no, we had to use our phones. This not only costs us data minutes but some online menus didn't give any kind of explanation of what it is that you're ordering. Because of that it took us forever to figure out what we wanted, we ended up having the waitress bring us 1 actual menu so we could make our choices easier. Our waitress was very nice and helpful but some things took forever. My husband ordered a 2nd drink and it took over 15 minutes for him to get it. They weren't packed and were maybe at 1/3 capacity, he didn't get his 2nd drink he was done with his meal and he'd ordered it when we finished our appetizer. Speaking of our appetizer, it was a joke.!! It was the onion blossom and I don't know why they call it that because it most definitely was not a blossom. It was small flakes of separate pieces of onion fried in a dish. It used to be the whole onion deep fried and served whole aka blossom. This was a tease, and the price they charged for it? There was 5 of us and we each got maybe 4 slivers of onion. Definitely not worth it! Our meals were so/so. They forgot the bbq sauce that was supposed to come with my meal. I'd asked our waitress for extra napkins and 1 more set of silver wear, we got the napkins but never received the silver wear. Thankfully a couple of us got burgers and didn't need ours so we gave it to those that needed it. I had to ask for water it wasn't brought or offered to us and my husband and I both had ordered a mixed drink. You should Always be offered water when ordering a mixed drink or any alcoholic beverage. My son ordered mashed potatoes with his kids meal and they were definitely powdered mashed potatoes. They had a weird salty chemical flavor to them and the texture was thicker than play doh. They were very gross. I can't believe they wouldn't used real potatoes for their mashed potatoes. We were over all very unsatisfied and will definitely Not...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this location because I have always loved this food chain and was excited to see one had opened near us. We were seated after 30 minutes of waiting (not a big deal, they were busy, I get it). But that was just the beginning of a disappointing night. It took quite awhile for a server to come get our drink orders but when they finally did he was very nice. We put in our order immediately and received our food within 30 minutes which is not terrible. I had put in our dessert order with our food order so it wouldn’t take so long to get it afterwards (again, I recognized how busy they were). We ate and our plates were cleared. The waiter care by a time or two and refilled drinks and apologized about the wait. I told him it wasn’t an issue and we patiently waited for our dessert. An HOUR (I watched the clock closely because I was amused on how long a cookie topped with ice cream was taking) later he arrived with two of the same entree’s we had already eaten and was ready to set them on the table. We looked at him confused and told him we had eaten and had been waiting for an hour for our dessert. He was completely baffled and confused and clearly didn’t remember serving us the first time. We laughed it off and told him it was okay but that we would need to take the dessert to go because it was late. He told us no problem and said it would be a few minutes ANOTHER HOUR PASSED and we were putting on our coats to leave because obviously we were not getting what we had ordered. We had spent almost 3 hours there and finally as we stood up to go he handed us a bag and half apologized as we went to leave (paid the bill electronically). We honestly would have left much sooner if we had not been seated at the type of high top where there are strangers seated on your right and left making it difficult to exit. I have worked in food related customer service for almost 6 years, including management, and was honestly shocked at how poorly things were run. By reading many of these other reviews it seems I’m not...
Read moreI had three very disappointing experiences in a row at the DeKalb Chili's location.
My husband and I were gifted a Chili's gift card for Christmas and were excited to use it at our local DeKalb Chili's. The first time we arrived at the restaurant it was a Friday evening and the restaurant was moderately busy (about half full). The wait time was well over an hour and the restaurant seemed under staffed - which is very understandable given the pandemic situation. By the time we arrived, we were quite busy so we opted to dine elsewhere.
Take two - we decided to give the restaurant a try a again. This time we came on a week night when they were much less busy. I called ahead to see if we could make reservations, but the hosted infomed me that they do not take reservations. We arrived and only 1/4 of the restaurant was full, yet there somehow was an hour wait. We decided to wait this time. After waiting an hour, the hosted told us that the kitchen was backed up and there was going to be another half hour wait. By this time is was getting quite late, so we decided to dine elsewhere.
The third time was not the charm either. We came to the restaurant on a week night when the restaurant was not busy at all (only 1/4 full). Once again there was an hour wait, so we waited. And once again after our hour wait we were informed that the kitchen was backed up so it was going to be another half hour wait 🙄. We asked it we could sit at the bar and order a few drinks in the meantime - seeing that the bar was nearly empty. They would not allow us to do so. So we left again.
A week later we drove an extra 30 miles to use our gift card at the Rockford Chili's location. The restaurant was quite busy and still they managed to get us in right away! The service was fantastic and the food was great. We frequent Chili's often and from now on the Rockford location will be getting...
