Worst experience I’ve ever had at a fast food restaurant in my entire life. I went through the drive-thru and waited 15 minutes behind 2 cars. There wasn’t enough room for me to pull up to the window and I was getting fed up. I parked, went inside, and told old one of the employees that I hadn’t even paid yet and was wondering if I could just pay and wait for my food at the counter. She apologized and said she would be able to ring me up, then walked away. While sitting at the counter, two other customers from the drive-thru came inside and were missing half of their order and received the wrong milkshake. Then, I waited another 10 minutes. The employee I previously spoke with told me that my food was ready and to go back through the drive-thru to pay and receive my food. I thought that was strange, but did it anyway. I waited behind someone in the drive-thru for another 5 minutes and finally got to the window. I was handed my iced-tea, tasted it and realized it was sweet-tea. I handed it back, waited a few minutes and received another one. To my surprise, the second drink was also a sweet-tea. I handed the second drink back and was told that both the dispensers were unlabeled and they must have put sugar in both. Finally, after being at this place for almost 45 minutes, I received my food. I heard the cook inside yell, “That’s it! I’m quitting! I’m quitting right now!” as the attendant was handing me the bag. I laughed and the drive-thru attendant said he wanted to hang himself, so I wished him good luck. Relieved that the ordeal was finally over, I headed back home. As I was driving, I realized I probably should have checked my order, but I couldn’t stand to be there for another minute. Oh how foolish of me. I sat down to eat the single-steak burger with everything on it that I ordered, or so that’s what I thought I was going to do. I unwrapped the burger and was amazed when I revealed a sad patty, slathered in ketchup, on a bun. I...
Read moreI went into Steak and Shake the other day around 4 AM. Me and my friend were awake and hungry, and we decided to go one to the few places open 24hours in this area. When we arrive, (we live near Schnucks) the hostess/employee immediately tells us they are closed. She said, "we are closed right now! SORRY! We open back up at 7." and walks away, completely with attitude, even though I just saw her standing around and chatting with another coworker right when I walked in. My friend said, "wait you're closed?" and the employee said, "YES. We have to clean!" I look at their door, and I said, "I thought you guys are open 24 hours?" She said back to me, "Well that's the problem! We're open 24 hours, we have to close to clean, how are you supposed to eat in the restaurant if it ain't clean?" And I said okay, and walked out. Seems to me that they don't want to do the work, we drove there, and they lost a decent amount of money from the both of us, and I know they are open 24 hours. Not to mention, she was ridiculously rude, and it shouldn't take you 3 hours to clean. And if that IS the policy, then they should establish that on the building. This is a college town, do you really think people aren't awake at 4AM?
This isn't the first time I've had an issue at this place. I've also faced racial discrimination in this place, and a waitress didn't like me and I tasted soap in my drinks, and she slammed all my food on the table and gave me attitude when I would ask her for something. But would treat my friends rather nice, and say sweetie and honey to them and never slammed their food down, and THEY even noticed how rude she was treating me. I told the mananger, and they told me I could have a free milkshake the next time I came in, little do they know, I don't even like milkshakes, so it was wasted completely. This place is a joke, and every time I think about going back. I'm reminded why I...
Read moreI went to the drive-thru 2 days in a row (9/5/19 and 9/6/19). The first day they did have 3-4 cars. The car in front of me was there at least 10min. When it was my turn to order a chocolate shake I was told to hold. That took another 10 min. I thought "ok they were busy" but it's a drive-thru it's supposed to be quicker right? The next day I went back to the drive-thru again. I got there at around 4:45-4:50pm 1 car was already waiting to get their order pulled up ahead of the window. I pulled up to the speaker to place my order and a voice said "Welcome to Steak n'Shake place hold" she didn't give me any time to object. Finally about 10min later I was able to place my order. I ordered a chicken nuggets meal and asked if the 1/2 price happy hour shake was still valid being that I was there before 5pm and put on hold right away. The lady taking my order said no because the order had to be entered before 5pm. I did argue that I was put on hold for 10 min before I even had the chance to place my order so how was that my fault? Then I guess a manager came on and said the same thing and that "only corporate can allow them to give that discount". I said the same thing to her about having put on hold before I could even get my order in again not my fault. So out of frustration I said forget it I don't want the shake just give me my meal. I pulled up to pay and after I was told to move forward to wait for my meal. When the lady came to hand it to me it was pathetic. No apologies other than "Sorry for the wait" she had a big smirk on her face as she handed me my meal. I told my son "Never again will we be going back there." I will be calling corporate to complain about this location. Unacceptable I highly doubt only corporate can allow for...
