So... I've came here for at least three years with the usual crew of friends, who all work in the service industry and we've always had a great time and great service.
Well yesterday ended that... Throughout the years from Patrick to Jewels to Noel we've always gotten great, prompt and efficient service without an issue. Last night a group of us went out to celebrate a friend's birthday as we always do at Shell's. While there we received absolutely terrible service from our waitress and waited obscene amounts of time for food and drink orders. It wasn't like it was a packed house or on a wait, the bar itself was half sat at most and there were multiple high tops open. Everytime we asked for something it seemed like we were inconveniencing her to do what we are literally paying her for. Finally when it came time to cash out she dropped our bill, which had multiple tabs and she knew that. To than expect us to tally and separate it ourselves because she "didn't have time". After we spent time doing the job she is being paid to do, I said forget it and paid the tab and we split it up later on. Which we shouldn't have had to do. As I paid, all of my friends being in the service industry advised that I leave a less than normal tip since we received such bad service. I did and as I was leaving the manager Kayla proceeded to follow us out with an attitude, then had the audacity to send a picture of my bill to my friend who sat with all of us and advised me to not extend a good tip for bad service. So I guess in attempt to shame me or down talk me she felt the need to send my personal information via unsecured public sources. Which is illegal and tap dances very closely to criminal offenses. So... be warned if you receive bad service and don't tip according to service standards you'll be shamed and your private financial information will be shared. I don't ever plan on coming to this...
Read moreMy friend and I ordered 20 wings and a salad for take-out on 9/4/20. As we arrived, we decided that we'd actually like to sit down for a drink as well. I let the hostess know that we were picking up food, as I saw there were empty tables and no wait, I asked if we could sit at a table and she said "yes, you can". When we open up our food, out of 20 wings, we had 16 drums and 4 flats. My friend and I both prefer flats and we expected an even mix as that's how most orders come. We felt JIPPED especially considering the facts that drums typically are cheaper than flats and because the it was take-out, they felt it was okay to jip us because we would be somewhere else by the time we realized. I asked our server how we could rectify the situation and she literally WALKED AWAY from us... HORRIBLE ATTITUDE, and did not try to help the situation at all. She made a simple issue into something way worse. A manager came over, I explained everything and he offered to bring out new flats to my friend. My friend had eaten only 3-4 of the drums before the manager TOOK the remainder drums to the kitchen to be "replaced ". I never understand this anyways because now I'm concerned you're going to reserve to another person!!!!....Just bring out the other wings! When the flats come out, there are only 4 when there should have been 6 or 7. Needless to say, our experience was RUINED and it could have been a simple fix. My friend is also in upper management of a large company and has used the corporate card here several times for group happy hours and says he no...
Read moreI drove 1.5 Hours to Shellhammers for mothers day. As we pulled up I was disappointed in the location. My wife rolled her eyes and I knew the only saving grace would have to be the food..It had to save the day. We walked in and it had a neighborhood bar and grill feel..Not a restaurant in the tradional sense. A little rough around the edges..but I like joints like this. We sat down and ordered. We got a menu with the mothers day specials on it. It was 3 seafood dishes. We order appetizers and they were very good. My wife ordered the lobster special stuffed with crab I ordered a filet medium rare and mom ordered crab cakes. We noticed that the restaurant was light on staff. ( like everywhere else) We had 3 people wait on us and I don't believe they were actually waiters or waitresses. The service was slightly disjointed due to this but they did the very best they could. We understood this. The food came out in time. All 3 dished were hot. The vegetables were done perfectly. I am very picky about my steak and it was done to perfection. The cut of meat was wonderful. Nice grill char on the outside and it was spot on on the inside. The mash potatoes had a unique taste. I am still trying to figure out what spice they used in them. My mother took one bite of her crab cakes. She said they were amazing. I took a bite and yes they were very good. My wife had the lobster and she said it was done perfectly. I highly recommend Shellhammers for the food. Also if you like that homey neighborhood bar feel you will enjoy their large assortment of drinks...
