Another Broken Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Delray Beach

My family and I visited the Delray location today and we were utterly underwhelmed. My sister and I visited the Orlando location some months ago and had an amazing experience. So much so that when we decided to meet up with family from Fort Lauderdale, I suggested the Delray location. The place was busy, as expected, on a Sunday but the service was lackluster. After orders were placed, and they came out, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my food and drink order, which was placed before the food order. My niece was given cold scrambled eggs, and when my food came and she told the waitress, there was an attitude about the issue with the eggs. We requested our waiter come back as he did not bring the food out and we needed additional items. He never came. Then it started to pour down, not unexpected, it's Florida, but the ceiling began to leak and water spilled into food causing them to become inedible. A waitress was nearby and we got her attention but she was dismissive and did not attempt to help nor did she bring out our waiter who I imagine had tables inside and had long forgotten about us. The leak in the ceiling became worse and I told my niece who was getting wet and now couldn't eat that she should move to an empty table until we resolved the issue. Again no one came out or asked if we needed anything or attempted to wipe up the wet table we were stuck sitting at. When my niece went to the empty table, another waitress told her that the place was busy and she couldn't sit there. By this point I'd had it and was so upset at the lack of service that when another waiter walked by we asked for boxes and to remove the food that was inedible due to the leaking ceiling. The food was removed and still no one apologized or tried to compensate us further. Other tables were being given comped drinks for their inconvenience while we were ignored. I was so frustrated that I spoke with the manager before paying my invoice and he had no urgency in speaking with his staff or anything to make us whole after the ordeal. I didn't expect him to plug the ceiling but I expected to have been moved liked other tables, that weren't experiencing a leaky ceiling. We were there for a joyous occasion, one of my nieces is expecting, but it turned out disastrous and just horrible. The mother to be never got her eggs so all she had was a waffle, my other niece was wet from the ceiling leaking and couldn't eat because of the ceiling water contaminating her food as well as other items the water made inedible. To begin with our waitress brought my son's water In a COCKTAIL/WINE GLASS. because they were out of cups? But we saw several parties get their drinks in regular cups. We asked her multiple times for water for my husband and he never got it but we overlooked all of that. We waited over an hour and a half (90 mins) before our waitress came over and said our order was coming Although she took our drink and food order as soon as she came to our table. We continued to watch MULTIPLE parties that were seated long after us get their food and we were still waiting but she never came over and seemed to be avoiding our table. The couple sitting across from us that was seated after us and already eating their food said "Wow it seems like they forgot about you guys you've been waiting forever". About 45 mins later my husband asked the waitress what was happening with our food and she said she would go check. Then she said that there were 6 orders ahead of us!! We were beyond frustrated and starving. We asked to speak to the manager and he did listen but he was extremely nonchalant and didn't seem to care. Very disappointing experience especially on Father's Day. My husband and I have been to this location before and the experience was great and so was the food which is why we came today. Today was Horrible and ruined my husband's Father's Day. Our waitress never even apologized....

I have been going to another broken egg for quite some time now and I absolutely love it! For the longest time I would get the Broken egg chicken biscuit open faced sandwich topped with an over easy egg and let me tell you it would fill you up! I also love the fact that they have flavored creamers such as French vanilla and hazelnut it’s a nice touch that a lot of places do not have. They always have a delicious seasonal coffee so get that over the house blend. All the staff is very friendly. The hostesses are all very nice and organized. The servers are very knowledgeable and on point. Are usually sit outside with my puppy and they always bring her a bottle of water and some treats As they are dog friendly restaurant and celebrate National dog day. Outside is very comfortable and in the shade. If I ever do sit inside it is also very clean with a nice decor. Anna introduced me to a new dish this morning it was the lobster city grits! Let me tell you it was definitely worth it, I’m not usually a fan of grits but the way they mix in the lobster that bacon in the sausage with fresh tomato and parsley in a little bit of butter is astronomical.
