Wow what an enormous disappointment, front to back. 2 hours wait to get Uber delivered- not Uber’s fault, spoke with driver. Called restaurant and all they did was blame driver (but messed up when stating they said they’d come back “again”, making it obvious they’d made him wait excessively already). No apology, food arrived without drinks, as included and charged for. called AGAIN, attitude terrible, acted like I was trying to scam HER. Made me wait, researched the ticket, and then oh-so-graciously stated if I wanted to drive up there myself “she wouldn’t “have a problem” with giving me (the wrong flavor, again no apology) the drinks. I f’in paid for. That she was ok with sending whatever with no explanation and couldn’t apparently manage that. And the pork chop- burnt. Cornbread- dry as a sandbox. And big surprise, chicken obviously had either been sitting or was refried. Rib was mediocre and screamed Lowrys but at least edible and cooked to correct-ish consistency.
I try to support local business, but these inconsiderate sloppy fools need to stop. If I wanted to get my own damn drinks, I wouldn’t pay 14-15 bucks per plate of food only to have someone behave like they are annoyed by my business. Lesson learned. Mind you this was mid-day anti-rush hour, places between 1:30 and 2, a Sunday too boot so no reason for being overwhelmed. No excuse but lazy and lack of pride. What a shame to give soul food in Denton such a bad rep. It’s pretty bad when I can’t recall why I hadn’t ordered from a local joint before, but sure as you’re born, the exact same issues others in my memory had noted to me- come to pass. Oh well I gave them a chance plus a chance to make r right and then some. Spin the wheel on this one at your own peril- just know if there’s a concern, the attitude is very much like they are being bothered and you owe them an...
Read moreWent on a date with someone who likes this restaurant. I have heard some positive and negative things about this restaurant, but I walked in with an open mind and became excited after looking at the menu. The woman at the front greeted us and provided good customer service throughout our visit.
I ordered the pork plate with a side of french fries, the macaroni and cheese, and grape kool-aid. I wanted their shrimp plate, but they ran out of shrimp. My partner ordered the catfish plate with a side of fried okra, sweet potatoes, and cherry kool-aid. We let each other try each other's food to help formulate an opinion about this restaurant.
Positives: Adequate pricing for food (about $12.00 per person). The woman at the front was nice and checked in on us frequently. The catfish was great! If I go back again, I would definitely get myself the catfish basket. The food was served quickly - we only waited for about five or ten minutes.
Negatives: The pork was cooked unevenly. About 1/3 of the pork tasted juicy and amazing, but the other 2/3 was tasteless and almost hard as a rock. My sides did not meet my expectations. The fries were room temperature, soggy, and seemed undercooked. The macaroni and cheese was okay. Limited seating. There was a random man sleeping in one of the booths. The food was served in plastic to-go containers despite us dining inside. We were given plastic utensils and cups for our drinks, as well. The man working in the kitchen passed by us a few times and acted disinterested and coldly towards us. My stomach hurt a little after finishing my meal.
I am glad I went, but I am not sure if I would recommend it to someone...
Read moreUnprofessional, hood customer service. I placed an order for a fish plate over the phone and asked for extra tarter sauce because a whole plate with 3 pieces of fish comes with one little half filled cup. I was told there would be an additional charge for each. I was like coo can you make sure my cups are full since im paying extra. She basically said no all cups are half full. I ordered them anyways and asked for my total. I was given a total and told it would be ready in 15 mins in which I waited about 45. When I got there it was automatically a negative vibe, I walked in and no one spoke and I wasn't greeted, but in spite of all the bs I was like whatever let me just get my fish basket. I walk in and my money was taken and I was told I could go to my car and she would bring the order out....I let her know that I was told 15 mins over the phone and it had already been 45. This B had the audacity to say she knew, but due to attitude she wanted to wait until I got there to make the order! Needless to say I told her to refund me immediately. This is why black businesses have a bad name. All this lady had to do was make an order and if she really wanted to keep a customer she could have simply filled up the tarter sauce cup that I was paying additional for. She would rather risk getting a bad review, potentially lose customers due to word of mouth, and ultimately lose a sale. Ignorant to say the least. The fish isn't even close to being that good to where she thinks she can have an attitude like that and still get paid. They lost...
