The reason for such a low rating is because of my growing frustration especially with this location. I go to several Jimmy John's for one particular sandwich that I have always found to be very good and very affordable. Before I go on, it's worth saving that I grew up in the deli business in New York City. So I know what it takes to prep a sandwich, deal with customers, and what it means to be thoughtful about what the customer is asking. But at this location, carelessness, dirtiness, and what I can only describe as a millennial attitude, have been increasingly present in how orders are taken, prepared, and how the cleanliness of the environment is maintained, as well as how these kids decide it's okay to present themselves to the public. I would rather deal with someone with multiple piercings and two sleeves of ink whom I can tell is showered and clean and not touching every part of their body as they take my order, than sloppy, unkempt, and unhygienic kids serving me what I'm going to eat. To start, when I walked in today the store smelled awful, like damp dirty rags. If I hadn't needed to be done with getting a sandwich within the next 5 minutes, I would have walked out and gone to Panera. I asked about it, and the young man who was taking my order, as he touched every possible orifice of his face, said it was probably the bleach trap that was a bit clogged up today. I ordered my regular sandwich, which was prepared on a filthy prep slab, getting spilled, unwiped mayonnaise and other products all over the exterior of my bread - in other words the portion I handle in order to eat the sandwich. In addition, I don't know what the problem is with these people not understanding when someone says "light avocado spread." I order it every time with light avocado spread. Each time I have to watch as it's being prepared, with absolutely nothing scraped off as they are about to put the spatula back in the bin, and every time I have to say, "No, please scrape some off but also spread it around." And each time I'm looked at like this is the weirdest possible selective option a person could come up with for a sandwich, especially if I have to tell them to scrape a second or third time because they're not looking and assessing that the amount left in no way would reflect a light application of the spread. There's no point to light avocado spread if at the end of it I have one lump that's going to come out as a tablespoonful in one bite. So in general, Jimmy John's is a really good taste and value, but I am sick and tired of the lack of physical cleanliness, the poor sandwich board/facility maintenance, in addition to the attitude of children who are barely adults who exhibit every sign of never having been held accountable or encouraged to be self aware of how they come across or of ever having developed an appropriate, professional sense of caring what other people think of them, both when they are gloved and preparing a sandwich, and when with bare hands they're picking their eyeballs and sweat cracks...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER I order Jimmy Johns at least 2 times per week. Today I placed my order and asked for EXTRA oil & vinegar. When it arrived it had NO oil or vinegar. I called and spoke with Vaughn who was not in a good mood, and told me its on the lettuce. He argues with me and was rude. I mean I wouldn't call if it was correct. They re-made the sandwich delivered reluctantly. When the driver, Tyman? arrived I handed him the dry sandwich for the exchange and he decided to harrass me about how a sandwich should be made and that he and his GM (who he refused to give me his name) said it was made correctly to begin with and they watched the video of it being made. REALLY??? I'm actually afraid to eat the sandwich-they probably spit on it. If I am paying $15+ for a sandwich, I would expect it top be correct. Thank goodness this one was a reward that I still paid $7. I am done with...
Read moreI've been eating at this location for years and the food is always terrific. The only thing more impressive than the food is their top-tier staff and unbeatable service. When it comes to fast food, I believe most people have grown accustomed to being served by the unenthusiastic, humdrum husk of a person regurgitating the same "welcome to , what can I get for you?" Jimmy John's on 288 is the exception to that norm! I had the pleasure of interacting with Ben, who was bursting with charisma, personality, and useful information. It was a breath of fresh air to encounter someone genuinely pleasant and fun in an industry that is known for the opposite....
