Super weird experience, terrible custard. It was a hot night, kids wanted ice cream, so we went to Andy's for the first time @8:30ish on a Tues. Was dark out, but plenty of customers because of heat and summer. Pulled up to drive through and there was no visible speaker in which to speak into. No sign that says to pull up to window. We waited for 5 minutes thinking maybe we couldn't see a hidden speaker. Then just started driving to the window. Just as we got to window, this teenage girl bursts through a side door, hurriedly putting on a uniform apron, and holds out a tablet, all while she keeps looking back at the big menu we drove past and then at us. Like we were supposed to have known where to order or to wait for some non-existent cashier. Like we did something wrong? Maybe we were supposed to send morse code? She put our order in and then the window opens (less than two minutes after we ordered) and my husband's shake was miraculously already ready, one sunday was ready and the other one was soon after that. There's no physical way that these cups of custard could have been pulled that quickly with toppings and the shake made. It's clear that they have pre-pulled cups that they then just slop toppings onto. This was extra clear when they handed us essentially liquid ice cream base that wasn't set or had been sitting somewhere not cold enough for a while. More than one topping was missing or wrong on each order and the two regular Sundays were in completely different size cups with vastly different amounts of ice cream (now soup). When the cashier handed me the first Sunday, she piled straws/spoons/napkins on top of it and the lid wasn't on tight, so when I went to catch the container she was thrusting at me, the napkins and spoons went flying onto the ground. She got us new ones, but it was pretty clear as she was hurling those items in the air to me that there was no way I could catch all she was throwing at me. No logic applied, no plan. The custard was not good custard, the sunday soup with the wrong toppings was gross and hard to eat, short of driinking it. Watery, too sweet, not creamy or good tasting. Strangest ice cream experience we have ever had. So many great options for cold treats in Denver, definitely no reason to ever go...
Read moreI tried Andy’s Frozen Custard last night for the first time and ordered the James Brownie Funky Jackhammer. Staff was respectful and helpful at the time hence the 2 stars, which I feel is generous. The brownies in my custard tasted horrible and old, so bad I spit it out. Because they had already closed I called the location today requesting a refund where a manager named Jacob (I believe) told me that was impossible and they would remake it for me or give me coupons to return, but I really have no interest in giving it another shot as the experience was revolting. The manager later told me that it was an extremely lengthy process with other managers that need to be involved to refund me and they would have to look through all orders from yesterday to identify mine as I wasn’t given a receipt. I told them I have the exact time of the transaction off of my credit card, but they said again the process for a refund was too lengthy. The manager also told me the brownies are cooked fresh every day and it was “impossible” verbatim for me to get brownies that were bad and I just didn’t like them. I was disappointed with the quality of food I was provided and then appalled by the way this manager...
Read moreI like Andy's custard and have been here about 4-5 times since it opened. The 3 stars is based off of my latest experience. We had to wait at the board until the young man casually took his time getting to us. I asked about different concrete variations and his answer was, "there are others on our website menu." So I replied, well let me pull out my phone and look at the menu. Anyway, he was nice, but he definitely wanted to be somewhere else. It'd be nice to maybe share what most customers purchase or what staff likes. They've done that in the past, but not this young man. Also other employees were pleasant and friendly. Usually my concrete cup is filled like the website pictures, but not today. They filled it a little over 3/4 of the way. I didn't complain because 1) I had planned to do this review and 2) I'm now considering if my going here is worth my time and money. I may comeback, but I definitely won't go out of my way to get here...
