Though modern and chic (honestly a pretty sexy establishment if you like long beards and tight pants) the over all feel of Aviano coffee is lack luster. The building and establishment its self are very nice, great setup designed for an open airy feel and the front lounge and meeting is very nice. But its easy enough to make a beautiful building. But ... Can you make coffee/ espresso? The answer for Aviano is yes, and no. When ever I test a new shop I order on drink. A simple drink. But it allows me to taste and feel a full spectrum from the shop. I order a double short latte. This gives me a chance to get a mouth feel of their esteemed milk, a full bodies approach to their espresso, and over all craftsmanship of the beverage. At Aviano I was created upon my entry but given no instruction nor sign as to wear to order. No biggie I looked for the register and walked over and started there. I ordered my drink and waited and watched.... The first thing that strick me is the la marzoco strada 3 group they use. An excuisit machine but only in the hands of a real pro. Two employees started crafting my latte. First off I thought 2 people working the same machine when I was the only person waiting was odd. But I realize this does provide and excellent timing for the pulled espresso and steamed milk. On that note.. The milk was devine they use a local milk that is bottled in reusable bottles and from past experience, is a very good tasting dairy. The person who steamed my milk knew what she was doing, perfectly velveted milk, not a hot milk with some foam on top, but a rich luscious velvet feel through the whe cup. I LOVED IT. Tragically that is where my love affair ended. Though the Batista certainly knows his craft (and machine!) And pulled two lovely, perfectly timmed (21 second pull) shots of espresso he inexicably was plaqued with an espresso bean similar in color to a bowel movement after a month drinking soylent.... Espresso is a dark roast. By nature, by description, well, frankly that's just what espresso is a nice DARK roasted bean. Sadly what was loaded into the hopper of their espresso grinder was something reminiscent of Starbuck "blonde" roast. And the resulting flavor was... Actually amazingly good in comparison to any other esprezsoi have had in the Denver metro area in over 2 Years... That does not mean it was good, or great, or delicious. It was flavorful. AndNOT acidic so I give MAJOR points to the roaster as that bean would make an amazing poor over on a Sunday morning.... And sadly the worst latte. I'm so dissapointed to see all the wonderful coffee shops of the Denver area turn to "batch roasted" "artesinal" honest rubbish coffee... This new hipster trend of light roasted lack luster espresso needs to stop being perpetuated.
In closing. Atmosphere 8 out of 10 Service 4 out of 10 Technique 9 out of 10 Flavor 3 out of 10 Texture...
Read moreThis was a nice coffee shop that needs much improvement to stay competitive. This will be a first 3 star rated coffee shop. Visibility is terrible. They do not have the name of the shop on the front. It does say COFFEE on the side near the left door but the color of the print blends in with the dark wood color plus the tree covering the word did not help( see photos for reference). Once inside, by entering by the door that says coffee seems confusing for first time visitors, since you're not sure where to order and all baristas are focused on other stuff. Price of coffee needs to drop. Paying 7.50 for a 16 oz coffee with a espresso shot(red eye/ shot in the dark etc) is really high when all other places do it for half the price. Maybe they feel like since Cherry Creek they need to charge more but with coffee, you want to bring people back. The inside has a strong quiet echo, not giving a good comfortable inside. The decoration seems off for being a coffee shop. It seems as if they are doing an aviation theme but it's very bland. My kid liked the latte but she does agree the price does not match the taste. I hope they make improvements since Colorado will have a boom of coffee businesses in the next 5 years. I'm not sure if Cherry Creek is hurting for coffee shops and that's why they do what they do but this shop will hit the bottom of my list coffee shops visited. If they fix these few items I have listed, they can easily hit a 5 star rating because the coffee itself was good and if you have the right price and good coffee, then you got yourself a coffee shop. Would I suggest going there? No, due to...
Read moreOn a 95-degree day, hot coffee was not my first choice when I was finished shopping at Cherry Creek, but the brick exterior of Aviano Coffee Shop and the bustling patio grabbed my attention. I ordered a macchiato and it came in a traditional style that mirrored the small, but strong cup of coffee that I ordered in Milan. The benches were modern and small but equipped enough for me, a college student, to study Arabic for a few hours with plenty of room for an hourly dose of caffeine mixed with scattered notes. The coffee shop seemed to be filled with a wide variety of individuals including professionals, students, and of course a few coffee enthusiasts, but overall it seemed like a pretty inclusive environment although it was a little too sleek and high class for a day-to-day study spot. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi seemed to be slow and spotty, which was a hassle especially for students. The bathrooms seemed a little on the rough side, but the owner was cordial, even though he seemed to be in the process of training new employees. The lighting and interior was a mix of modern and industrial furnishings that kept my mood calm and focused. Overall, the quality of coffee was very good but a little on the pricey side when comparing other small coffee shops, but the setting seemed perfect for a good study session supplemented by...
