Fontana Sushi — Restaurant in Denver

Not only is it some of the best quality fish for sushi in the Denver area, it's also absurdly cheap. Most nigiri $1 apiece for fresh, really good fish? Yes please! Service is prompt and nice and never had to wait long to be seated, even if the place is fully packed. They do really well on to-go orders as well, everything is packed tight and doesn't jostle around.

Not only is their sushi great, so are their hot dishes. Tempura is never too oily, the katsu-Don gives you a big amount of food for your money. Teriyaki smells really good when the waitress walks by with it, but I have never gotten it because their menu is so expansive. I'll likely try it one day, they bring it out to you on a sizzling skillet like a fajita

All around wonderful sushi place, doesn't get enough attention due to being nestled near Southwest Plaza mall, hidden behind the Outback Steakhouse.

EDIT: used to rate 5 stars, now 3. Fish quality has been actually awful the past two times we have been. The mackeral I always loved made me spit it out last time, it was inedible. The only decent nigiri was salmon, nothing else. And it was fishy. They don't ever serve any of the hot dishes I enjoyed (grilled salmon or mackeral, beef or chicken negimaki) and simply refuse even though it is in the menu. The service has been extremely lackluster and extremely rude. No refills ever, when before we always had our water full. When they refill it was with tepid water and no ice. Waitress acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there. New sushi chef I didn't recognized was more focused on the NBA game than making sushi.

Was introduced to this restaurant as a treat for my birthday lunch from a friend. The food was delicious. The lunch menu was very organized and displayed specials. There are different types of options for proteins to choose from whether you’re a meat eater or vegetarian. There are different types of beverages to select from. They even accommodated me on a mocktail where I chose a drink and told them without the alcohol. I chose the steak bento box to order. I was happy to see that it came with more than what the bento box held. It came with a big bowl of salad and a bowl of soup. Along with the sushi , teriyaki steak , dumplings and rice that was nicely displayed in the compartments of the bento box. My gf chose a selection of raw fish and they were beautifully presented and very fresh. There’s a big selection of sushi to choose from. The lobster mango was my favorite. This venue has booths, tables and bar seatings to choose from. The ambiance is a nice well lit restaurant with oriental decor. The service is very friendly and quick to serve . I enjoyed the food so much I came back the next day and brought someone else with me. This venue is located in a shopping strip across the street from the mall. I visited 3/26/22 at 5:00 pm. Not too busy yet. I would give Fontana Sushi 5 stars except for some cleaning details that were lacking. Service prompt and accurate. Food stellar. I ordered smoked salmon, eel pieces and two rolls. Fresh and cool. I sat under the TV at the far right counter. The entry is cluttered...it could be so sleek if the boxes and stereo equipment were either elsewhere or hidden in a low cabinet. Directly in front me was a display area. The glass was smudged inside and out and looked unclean. The saran wrap used to cover the fish inside should probably be removed during business hours instead of being rolled up against the glass. The metal edge had rag wipe marks. (Paper towels and cleaner would have made it all shine) the TV had food particles and splashes on the screen and sides. The cable box was dusty and dirty with a dirty urn on top if it. There were 3 lacquer seaweed boxes that were pretty gross on the outsides- time for new ones folks!
