Dog Friendly Patio and Pizzeria

This was the best pizza I’ve had in a long time! I picked this place because the veggie pizza looked really good online. It was more than good! Loss offers a unique pizza menu, each with something special. The veggie pizza had roasted garlic, olives, green peppers, onions, mushrooms and arugula drizzled with a balsamic reduction. No red sauce! Didn’t need it! The flavor was amazing. I substituted mozzarella and provolone for non- dairy cheese. The crust was semi-thin, perfectly baked with no soggy spots. Jack had the wild mushroom pizza with caramel onions, green peppers and plenty of non-dairy cheese. Also no red pizza sauce. It was equally as delicious as mine. We sat outside on their beautifully shaded eating area. Peaceful and so yummy. There is also indoor dining, but most people sat outside this hot summer evening. Service was great. We were asked how we were doing about four times. I noticed the staff routinely serve a bowl of water to dogs and offer kibble. Kids can have pizza of course, but there is also spaghetti and meatballs or buttered noodles. There were salad selections too but we didn’t try them. There was chocolate cake and something else for dessert, but again - we were only there for the pizza. They also serve wine, beer and cocktails. Pearl street is a hip area in the Platt Park neighborhood of Denver. There are many restaurants and bars to try there. Parking is street parking only, but you don’t have to pay to park. We parked a couple blocks away on Pennsylvania Street.

Came here for dinner last night with some friends on a recommendation and was not particularly impressed. I got a modified garden pizza - I asked them to remove the egg and add prosciutto, which they did not do (though I was charged for it on the receipt). The crust of the pizza is actually quite delicious. It's a nice thin crust and is well baked, which my friends agreed with. But no one was particularly wowed by their pizza as a whole. One person got baked pasta, which he described as "okay". So not bad, but nothing to write home about. There are several different seating areas. There's a very limited amount of seating inside, and the tables are small, so I would not recommend coming with a large group. There is a semi-enclosed patio area in the back with heaters as well as additional outdoor seating around the front and side. I imagine it's probably a nice place to stop by for lunch on a sunny day. The ambience was a bit meh for dinner. The service was cordial but a bit tired (it was a Saturday night) and it was unclear initially if we were supposed to seat ourselves or be seated. If you're in the area, it's not a bad place for pizza, but I wouldn't go out of your way for a visit.

LOOOOOOOOVE!!!! I am a pizza snob, I admit it up front, and Kaos makes me so, so happy! The garden patio is absolutely lovely in the evenings (even on ridiculously hot days, it has shade), the staff are all friendly and funny and welcoming (I just moved to the neighborhood this summer and everyone at Kaos made me feel like I was home). It's no joke when I say that the pizza is out of this world! It ain't NY style 'za, you know, the enormous thin crust pie that can turn into cardboard the next day (don't get me wrong, I was literally weaned on $1 NY slices). Instead, Kaos is a gorgeous, satisfying, delicious meal with fresh ingredients and a perfect ratio of tomato sauce to cheese, all balanced atop a freaking delicious crust that's soft and chewy and crusty in all the right places (seriously, I would eat an entire loaf of that dough if they sold it). I've had the Hawaiian, the Smokestack, and the wild mushroom. All are excellent. But my favorite is a build your own with shredded chicken, caramelized onion, bacon, pineapple, & balsamic drizzle. I add a little BBQ sauce at home and it takes will power to save half for breakfast the next day.

I can not believe how lucky I was to land in Kaos's neighborhood. It's my happy, once a week treat! If you haven't yet tried it, you just might discover it's yours, too.

PS: I vote for garlic knots! I promise, if you guys make them, I will buy at least a half...

We went downtown for the day and looked for a good pizza place and decided to give it a try based on the reviews. It was 3:30 on a Saturday, so not busy (only three other tables ~12 people total) and we were able to sit in the shade in the lovely garden. It took a few minutes for our server to greet us but our iced teas came quickly. We ordered Caesar salad to share and the Calabrese pizza with salami only on one half. We waited :20 for the salad. I had a direct view to the kitchen and saw it sitting there at least :10 before it was brought to us. When the server brought the salad, she apologized for the wait and said she would comp either the salad or give us a free dessert. The salad only had Parmesan and a few croutons. It really needed less Parmesan and some anchovies or something. Kind of bland. We waited :40 for the pizza. The pizza did come with only half salami which was great. The pizza left a lot to be desired. I thought it was bland and the crust lacked salt. The spice overpowered the very sparse number of caramelized onions and each piece had a small slice of mozzarella. When the server asked us if we wanted a dessert or free salad we said salad and she said she’d comp the pizza too. This was certainly a very generous offer and we gratefully accepted. Having said that, we were both left feeling very disappointed in the food. It is a lovely spot and we really appreciated the server taking care...
