Visiting Denver for a few weeks and came across this place. I have yet to try most of their stuff but what I have tried so far is not bad.
I tried the beef curry pan which was probably just ok. A far cry from what you get in Japan at the convenience stores. Nevertheless, I had to try it.
I also tried the Bacon Epi. While different than what you get in Japan, I did enjoy it. The firmness of the bread, the soft and flavorful bacon; perfect combination. I want to describe the bread more. If you've ever had this small bread in Japan (maybe even France) that is firm and has these cute tiny cubes of cheese on top; the texture of the Bacon Epi is kind of like that cheese bread. It's not easy to bite into but that is half the fun.
I plan on going there again to try a lot more of their stuff. I'm especially excited to try out their chocolate croissant and mochi stuff.
Yes, just like the rest of America; they expect you to tip even though you are paying at the counter; Japanese style. After reading several reviews here pertaining to this store, I wanted to modify my review pertaining to the beef curry pan. I realize that it is not fair on my part to compare the 'flavor' of things like the curry pan (and I do this a lot I realize) to the original places I have had them in. Each chef has their own understanding of flavors; that's how a variety of flavors come out. That said, I will try the curry pan one more time without any expectation for it to be the same like you get in Japan; it won't be and that's just the nature. There are too many variables. The flour, the water, the salt you get here and above all, the baker's creativity. So please don't not try the curry pan based on my review before. ...
Read moreThis place is a must when you're in Denver, they are open for dine in right now and you need to wait outside for your turn to order, the place dont have a sign so you will really have to look for the building number, we visited on a snowy day and it was really cold to wait outside but as soon as i tasted their food I thought waiting a little bit in the cold is worth it, I ordered different things to go, Red Bean bun, Almond Crossaint, Tuna Bun, Peach Danish and custard donuts. Prices is a little high compared to other bakeries I had been, their pastries and bread are ranging from $2.50 - $6.00, I microwaved the custard donut to warm it up a little bit and oh boy it's real good. I also like the fact that they are open early at 6am and closes at 4pm, it is a popular place so i think regardless of the weather you would have to wait in line for a bit. I wish they would sell Japanese jiggly cheesecake too....
Read moreI was thrilled to hear that a Japanese bakery was coming to Denver -- I went on the day of the Grand Opening -- and while it was very busy and the bakers had a hard time keeping the shelves re-stocked in time to feed the next rush of people, they had wonderful customer service and each of their bread creations I got to taste were so delicious! I also got to try the hojicha latte and my goodness it was heavenly.
Please keep up the great work -- I will order a shoku-pan next time to bring home with me too! Denver -- you gotta try this bakery!!!
Note: for those folks who don't know what exactly a Japanese style bakery is -- they are known for their single-serving bread creations (both savory and sweet), you fill up a tray of all the breads you'd like to try and check out at the register -- they also sell shoku-pan, which is Japanese style loaf of milk bread that is commonly eaten in Japan and...
