I visited Logan House Coffee recently and was disappointed to find they do not accept cash payments. This was not posted anywhere clearly—there were no signs indicating that cash isn’t accepted until you reach the register, making the experience frustrating and inconvenient for customers who rely on cash.

It’s important to note that in Colorado, there is a state law that requires retail businesses to accept cash. According to Colorado Revised Statutes § 11-61-102(1):

“A retail establishment that offers goods or services for sale to the public and that has an individual accepting payment in person at the point of sale shall accept United States currency, including federal reserve notes, from a buyer to purchase the goods or services.”

Unless the business qualifies for one of the law’s narrow exemptions (such as using automated kiosks, requiring credit cards for deposits, or operating mainly via subscriptions), refusing to accept cash is not allowed. Violations can result in civil fines of up to $250 per transaction attempt.

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews, and had I not gotten two coffees like this I'd give the place another chance. First let me say the place is very clean and the Barista was very nice; she made very pretty foam art on top our drinks, no issues there at all. The issue is when it comes to the coffee itself. We ordered a 16oz Peppermint Mocha & 16oz Hazelnut Latte. What we got was VERY lightly flavored steamed milk. If there was espresso in there neither of us could tell and there was only a hint of flavor at all. I was stoked to find a place other than the usual you know who coffee place, close to where we live, hoping it might be a new favorite place to stop but we won't be back. I drink a lot of espresso but I don't think it takes too much to wow me, however I really do need to taste the espresso in the drink. These tasted like poorly...

I stopped in to try this place after a rheumatologist appointment next-door, and it was the perfect pick me up before a long drive home. While my sugar-free breve was refreshing, the coffee flavor and syrup strength when paired together seemed less than impressive to me and was, on the whole, a forgettable experience for this particular palate. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend giving it a try—but I wouldn’t drive out of my way to visit this business again. The server wasn’t as warm and friendly as my husband’s Americano but instead gave off a cool, aloof manner to match the ice cubes floating in my own cup. The space itself is stunning and full of natural light—it would be a nice retreat for reading a good book.
