I walked in to Our Mutual Friend Brewing around 130pm on 11/20/2024 looking to inquire about purchasing/renting a keg. When I walked in, there was no line and there weren't many patrons. I approached the bar, where I noticed Lindsey, the bartender, was speaking to someone on my side of the bar, Cory. As Lindsey pulled herself away from speaking to her coworker, she looked at me, annoyed and stated "Can I help you?". I then inquired, "Yes! Do y'all sell kegs?" A question I figured would be a yes or no answer. Lindsey then looked at me, confused and more annoyed and said, "Like for.......". Let me pause here. It wasn't the fact that she might have been confused at my question, it was the clear annoyance in her tone and facial language that is the antithesis of customer service. I stated back "For the beer you sell?" Giving her tone right back to her. She obviously did not appreciate this and walked away to the bathroom. This is when Cory, the coworker she was speaking to when I first approached the bar, took over the conversation. I gave Cory multiple chances to correct the situation by asking, "Is that a weird question to ask in a brewery?", "I'm not sure why I am being treated like that is out of the norm... especially at a brewery". Instead of admitting and trying to damage control, Cory only kept defending Lindsey (who was still in the bathroom) telling me "it's a weird question to ask to a bartender (a bartender, who works at a brewery)" and "it's not a question we receive often". Whether or not it's a question you receive often doesn't give Lindsey the right to speak to a potential paying guest that way. As Cory went into another backroom to gather a business card for me so I could contact the correct employee for this request, Lindsey came out of the bathroom. Cory rejoined me at the bar, provided me the card, and I once again asked "whether or not it is a rare question, why am I being treated like that is an oddity. For a brewery to sell kegs?" He then motioned to Lindsey, and Lindsey, even more rudely and condescending than before said something to the effect of, "I was confused by your question HUN, I am sorry if you feel some type of way by my confusion". Once again, it wasn't a terrible apology, it is the level of disgust I could feel coming from this worker. I walked out and will not be walking back in to this establishment. I have not only had terrible customer service at this location in this past, but have had close friends tell me of similar encounters with your staff. It is not a big ask to be treated with respect and kindness, especially when I was willing to purchase a large expense item. I hope this reaches the correct point of contact as this level of customer service is beyond...
Read moreThe brewery location and setting is really cool. Right in RiNo, lots of open space, really nice.
The problems are with the beer quality, and the quality of the patrons.
On the beer front, you've seen all of this before. Denver seems to have a bunch of breweries that all compete for the most boring IPA, and this is one of them. It was like drinking a Surly Furious that had the hoppiness turned down, the color turned dull, and the finish turned boozy-tasting. Also, the sour was uninspired, the farmhouse was more bland than a lot of macros. The only unique thing here is the Novo coffee beer; one of the better coffee beers I've had.
The patrons were crappy, too. I mean, you obviously had the Denver lite-hipster people there, which is fine. (The city needs more of them, as most places are overrun with brotastic douchebags). But there were quite a few angry/aggressive types there as well. You had the typical Jesse James west coast flat brim douchers, the banger types who were "flexing" and hitting on everything that moved, and worst of all you had the "I just arrived here from some shitty western state and I look like I run a meth lab" rednecks. This last group came about an inch from starting a fight with our group, just because we were keeping to ourselves. They're the type of people who probably listen to Nickelback and think that GW Bush was just misunderstood. Just a really bad vibe overall. If you're looking for hip, or cool, or intellectual, or thoughtful, this isn't the place to go. Crappy beer brings crappy, unsophisticated patrons.
Denver has about 30 breweries too many, and if it were up to me, this one would be cut from the team. If you like crap beer, and don't care about your safety, this is the...
Read moreThis is a very unfortunate review to have to leave for a place that was previously our favorite local brewery. We visited on a weekday, around 12pm with some out of town friends. We are locals and have always loved and recommended OMF because we enjoy the beer selection and atmosphere. On this particular occasion, we ordered a few, 5oz samplers for ourselves and our friends to share. We drank those and went back to order more, and the bartender told us he couldn’t serve us because we had accidentally spilled one of the samples. He also suggested we move on to the next bar. Admittedly, we are a little clumsy, so when the spill occurred, we apologized profusely and asked for a towel to clean it up. Nothing was broken, and the spill was isolated to our table. We did so and thought that was the end of it. We are not sure what the issue was with this particular bartender, but we have never felt so unwelcome in a brewery. We almost laughed because it was so out of the blue. I want to emphasize how disappointing this experience was. After being treated this way, I don’t think we will ever return or recommend OMF to friends in the future. What used to be our standby brewery is no more. I have worked in the service industry and have personally witnessed the challenges of dealing with over-served patrons. This was not such an occasion, on an early afternoon on a weekday. I hope that others will not experience the same treatment, but it’s hard to say because the whole thing was so unfounded. What a profound...
