Chill Out Dog Training changed SO much for me and my pup, Nova! Nova is a true rescue dog. I adopted her when she was exactly 1 year old. She just turned 2 on May 3, 2019. Before I adopted her from Lola's Rescue Agency, she was in two different homes with two different owners, and a shelter (which I am quite sure was a kill shelter) and then was rescued by Lola's and stayed with a foster mom for a month before I adopted her. Before I found Scott, I had another trainer who I just found on Groupon. I had 3 sessions with the other trainer and the methods we used didn't have a lasting impact and were too rigid for my dog. Nova is VERY high energy. She's a boxer, lab, dachshund mix. She is overly protective of herself, quite anxious, very, very easily excited and reacts to just about everything. She was awful on her leash. I felt like she would pull my shoulder out of my socket! She would lunge at dogs, some people, scooters, bikes, birds, blowing leaves, skateboards...you name it. She was also a nightmare in the dog park. It would take me about an hour to get her to listen to me and come to me to leave and she would get aggressive with other dogs for what seemed like no reason. She would also go totally NUTS when the light rail would pass (which is really close to my apartment and dog park). AFTER our 6 sessions with Scott, SO much changed! With the right training tools, we finally got Nova to start to chill out while walking. She is no longer reactive on the leash. I love taking her for walks now! We can walk past other dogs and keep going without a huge scene. She has become a much better listener in my house, as well. When I tell her to get down from people, furniture, etc, she listens the first time. She is feeling less anxious when we go new places. She still does get anxious sometimes when I take her to certain new, hectic places, like breweries, however, I know what to do to get her to learn to be brave instead of hide away or get aggressive due to her anxiety. I could go on and on about the improvements. My life is so much easier now with Nova - all thanks to Scott (and BIG thanks!) This was a game changer for us to say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would recommend Scott to anybody who has a dog, whether it be a rescued dog with serious anxieties and aggression (such as mine), or a new pup who needs basic training.
My story is as follows - I found Sue, a 60lb German Shepard mix about a year ago in a parking lot. She needed a lot of work. She was aggressive toward any new person or dog and would bark violently inside and outside of the home at the sight or sound of the unknown. After a year, her stress levels were very obvious, and her aggressive/protective tendancies seemed to be getting worse. I wanted her to be a happier, friendly, social dog. This is where Scott comes in..
Scott was able to quickly address the root of Sueās behavioral issues. He paid attention to her energy and our energy as a unit. Scott understood that her protective tendancies and high-alert energy were caused by a lack of confidence in herself and trust in me as her leader. Scott introduced training tools and very practical training exercises. He helped me to better communicate with Sue. After just an hour into the first session we had success, thatās when I knew I had chosen the right trainer. He didnāt tell me to watch any videos or out-source the training experience, he was dedicated to my case and was fully present for our sessions. Scott helped us break down Sueās fear-driven layers into an unexplored area of vulnerability. After 3 more sessions and working with all that we had learned at home, Scott helped me train Sue into a confident, loyal, loving, and obiedient adventure seeker.
I never realized how much anxiety and fear I carried when I would take Sue out for even a simple potty walk. Scottās customized and experience backed training tools has set me and Sue free from so much anxiety. We now take long walks/hikes where we peacefully encounter others, and take frequent visits to the dog park where Sue gets to explore her playfulness! I canāt thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't recommend Cameron and the team at Chill Out Training enough. Our goldendoodles are great dogs who have received plenty of training in the past, but we had never been able to get them to behave on a leash. They would pull all over the place, get tangled up, and drag us after every runner, dog, squirrel, cat, or child that would pass by. There were more than a few times where walks would frustrate us to the point of tears (especially after a long day of work). We've so badly wanted to give them the Colorado dog experience, but any time we have taken them camping or hiking it has turned into a big mess. We couldn't even take them to sit at a coffee shop without them making some sort of scene with their barking and excitable behavior.
When we first met Cameron, we felt super reluctant about the E-collar. All I can tell you is it has changed our dogs' lives. Not only do they get pumped when we put on their collars (they have figured out it means extra long walk time), they seem so much more happy and at ease when we are out and about. Cameron gave us the perfect guidance to use this tool while also using meaningful training cues to guide them toward better behaviors. Our pups still have some work to do and we will be booking sessions in the future, but the 3 session package did more for our dogs than any previous training sessions combined. We have already taken them on more adventures in and around the city (including sitting on patios!) and look forward to hikes and lake trips when it gets warm out again. Even our neighbors have made comments about how well-behaved they are which is high praise because we definitely had "those dogs" in the neighborhood. This training is the best investment we've ever made for our dogs' safety...
