Beware. This place is known for people getting roofied and it happened to my husband. And, instead of listening and helping, the bartender screamed at me to get my husband out when he fell on the ground. He hadn't drank enough to be drunk let alone on the floor - and he was on the floor within 20 mins of taking his second drink of the evening. I yelled / cried "He's been drugged. Somethings wrong." The bartender didn't help at all and instead watched me, a 100lb woman, drag her 200lb husband out of the bar. Thankfully a stranger helped, but the whole situation was scary. I called the following day and left a message warning that this bar has a problem - and - that we suspected that it was the DJ's group of friends that roofied him. No response. That was a year ago and since then I've heard rumors that this place has had similar instances in which hipsters are roofying people they don't feel belong - not sexual, but a sick game. So here...
Read moreHave always loved this bar and wanted to show it to my girlfriend who is from out of town. We were having a great time as always until a woman came and grabbed the drinks out of our hands suddenly and told us to leave. We were shocked. It was only 1:45. She grabbed my girlfriend's hand and tried to pull her up on it of her seat as she was trying to kick us out. I asked her to let go of my girlfriend and told her she was being inappropriate. She told us to get out. Then we saw her doing the same to all of the patrons at the bar. A group of us sat outside dumbfounded and upset that we'd had drinks essentially stolen from us by this psycho bartender and kicked out of the bar early. Pon pon is usually a great vibe but getting assaulted and having drinks stolen from us put a bad taste in our mouths. Will not...
Read moreIt's our favorite bar in Denver. I grew up here, but only visit from time to time now. PonPon is hands down Denver's coolest bar, and it's not simply surface: yes, the atmosphere is exceedingly cool, but it's also extremely playful, and if you feel intimidated by the atmosphere, the incredibly warm bar staff will help you feel at ease. This is truly a sophisticated spot posing as a dive bar - you can get a glass of Txlakolina as readily as you might get a $4 Gennessee, or the best Japanese whisky cocktail as easily as a Mexican Coke or a glass of Four Roses from the 1970s salvaged from an estate sale. There's something here for everyone, from the eclectic decor to the art gallery in back. This is a must visit spot if you like cozy watering holes with kick-a music and...
