Underwhelming and you can get better, cheaper pizza and better service at Domino's or Pizza Hut. I've been trying different pizza places to find my favorite and it's really ironic Denver Pizza Co's motto is "best in the mile high" because it was the WORST pizza I've had yet. Let's start with the service, which was absolutely atrocious. I set a timed order to be ready at 7pm. I showed up about 5 minutes early only to be told my order wouldn't be ready for another 10-15 minutes. While that made utterly no sense and they couldn't be bothered to apologize or make excuses, I brushed it off and waited, no big deal. Finally, at 7:10 I was handed my pizza and I left...only to drive 2 blocks and realize I didn't receive the cannoli I ordered. I turned around and went back in and said I was missing the cannoli. Tell me why it took another 3 minutes for the girl to get a cannoli out the fridge? While my already late pizzas are sitting in my car getting cold, she proceeds to pull other pizzas from the oven and dilly-dally around, before seeming to remember she's supposed to be getting a cannoli she already forgot once. Still didn't apologize. Honestly, shockingly terrible service and right then I decided I'd never order from this location again if I like their pizza. Now, the pizza. I ordered the native and East Colfax. The native was missing basil. They straight up didn't put any on it. I was given a sliced tomato and cheese pizza. Just wow. The east Colfax is decent, but by the time I got home both were cold, even though the drive only took 8 minutes. Overall, the pizzas were lackluster and definitely the worst I've had since moving out here. Plus the pizzas were way overpriced for both the service and the fact they were missing ingredients. You can get better pizza that's WAY cheaper at chain restaurants, and I guarantee they'll put all the ingredients on them. And frankly, it's sad that chain restaurants make better pizza than Denver Pizza Co, because domino's tastes like cardboard and that would still taste better than the overpriced garbage I was...
Read moreThe worst pizza delivery experience. I call to order a simple cheese pizza from Denver Pizza Co (which is a place we order from often). After a lengthy and awkward call taking my order (the guy said his computer was being slow), the guy asks if I’d like to pay via card or cash. i ask if it’s okay i pay with cash when it’s delivered. he said yes and promptly hangs up. When the pizza gets here the guy tells me my order was $24 I say okay have change for a $50? he says no he doesn’t have ANY change more then $10. I say that’s odd and when i spoke to the other guy on the phone he didn’t give me any heads up you wouldn’t have change more than $10 (otherwise i could’ve just paid with a card). He said they don’t give him more than $10 “so he doesn’t get robbed.” I tell him i don’t have any other bills and he proceeds to tell me okay he’s going to go get cash and leaves. I call the restaurant back after a few minutes realizing he’s not coming back. When i call and explain and the situation the man tells me his guy told him he was “knocking for 10 minutes” which was obviously a lie as i had met him right away and had this whole conversation. The man on the phone then puts me on hold and returns to tell me he was the one who took my order and that he “didn’t know they didn’t carry any cash more than $10” he said i could reorder with a card and i said no thank you and that this was poor service and he told me to seek “service somewhere else.” I am completely taken aback at how rude this man was to me after I was the one who was not informed and left with no food. especially after this guy admitted he didn’t know this policy. And for the delivery guy who left and was “coming back” had I not called i guess I would’ve been left waiting?! I cannot believe just how inconsiderate these men were and for this experience to happen from a neighborhood spot i enjoyed ordering from and would often times recommend. I will not be returning or recommending this...
Read morevisited on 7/24 at 4:30 PM—my first time in. I came to enjoy a beer and order a 12-inch pizza to go. The menu listed a long paragraph of toppings, but no prices, so I asked the cashier if there was an extra charge. He said yes (which I expected—very standard, of course). I ordered basil, tomatoes, salami, and spinach.
After pouring a beer at the self-serve wall, I was handed my receipt—each topping was $2, including the veggies. That turned a $15, 12-inch pizza into a $23 one, which felt excessive, especially since only one of the toppings was a protein. Charging the same for a few basil leaves as for salami seems unreasonable.
I went to the counter to clarify. A tall guy in a flat-bill cap and glasses confirmed the pricing and responded dismissively when I expressed confusion. He told me to deal with it or offered to cancel my order in a passive-aggressive way. I didn’t want to escalate things—I just wanted my food—so I walked away to rejoin my girlfriend at our booth. But he followed me along the counter, continuing to argue. I had made it clear that I was done with the conversation and just wanted my food and to leave, but he continued to push. Eventually, he made a point of canceling my order with a smug attitude and told me to hand him my beer. Since they had already taken my card for the beer wall, I chugged the beer—figured I might as well enjoy what I paid for.
To top it off, after charging me for the beer, he made a snide comment about what I was wearing—and even one about my girlfriend. As someone who also works in the service industry, I’ve never experienced such disrespect, either as a customer or as an employee. I had hoped to find a regular pizza spot nearby, especially since I bartend in the area, but this left a really bad taste in my mouth and frankly soured what HAD been a good day. Thankfully, there are plenty of other options in the area to...
