I would have rated it 1 star, but a lovely girl named Christina tried so hard to turn our experience around after I asked her for help getting our credit cards back from Matt who refused to return them. If we had had Christina the whole time, this probably would be a 5, and we probably would have stayed all night. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and management has not been open to reaching out regarding the situation, so I assume they don't care, which means you need to be warned.
I flew in with a group of 10 other ladies for a weekend in Denver about a month ago. We decided to stop by Colfax after dinner to start our evening celebrating. Matt came over and took our drink orders. After 15-20 minutes I went to the bar to confirm our drinks were still coming, and he told me he was currently making them, I was being very inpatient, we were a large group. I replied, it's been nearly 15 minutes so I just wanted to make sure the drinks were still coming. Matt continued to scold me for how inpatient I was, and that he would bring our drinks over shortly. I told the table we could plan to leave, we would not tolerate this kind of service. The ladies proceeded to show my evidence of snap chats/texts sent when we arrived, to prove it had been more like 20 minutes. They also reminded me that Matt had all of our credit cards. I should also point out, we were a group of 11, but there were only 4 other tables, none as large a group as ours. I am find with drinks taking a little time, not 20 minutes, but certainly not okay with that type of service. I went back to tell Matt that he could discontinue our drinks, we were leaving, and we would like our credit cards. Matt then REFUSED to give us our credit cards back, told me for a third time how inpatient I was, that I was being a brat, and he was making our drinks right now. I cannot even begin to explain how livid I was. I simply walked away because when someone thinks it is okay to treat people that way, there's no reasoning with them. I tried to get in touch with a manager about the issue, and I don't know whether my messages were not passed along (as a manager never seems to be "in") or if Colfax just...
Read morePerhaps it's just because I knew this bar well when it was Three Lions, but the vibe feels very off to me. I had thought by the owners closing Three Lions and making it a sports bar with a trendy name, they would have updated more of the inside decor. It feels like Three Lions (which was a soccer bar with British pub vibes) with some new wallpaper in a couple spots and a barn door over the stairs to the loft area, which it looks like is now closed off, possibly for private events? Not sure. Also the tables with beer taps right in them are gone, which is sad because that was a really cool feature for visitors.
Now let me tell you why I gave 3 stars, because most of what I just said was inapplicable to most readers. The staff was nice and generally helpful, though they did seem to be paying more attention some other patrons than my fiancĂŠ and I and another couple who was sitting at a table. It seemed like they might've known the group of guys at the bar, and they were mostly hanging out on that end with them. It was a pretty slow night, so I understand and it was a minor annoyance. The beer selection was not as extensive as I would have hoped. They, of course, had all the typical domestics (bud, coors, etc.) but there was a smaller selection of craft than I would've liked and it seemed to lack much variety of breweries/styles. Overall I felt like the atmosphere was lacking. It didn't feel like a British pub, didn't feel like a sports bar, it just felt like an unintentional mashup.
So while it wasn't a bad visit, it wasn't great either. Mediocre in my book, but I also was a huge fan when it was Three Lions so there is a chance I'm biased here.
I would say check it out for yourself if you're looking to watch a sporting event, and come to your own conclusion. The area right around it has some cool spots to check out (ice cream across the street, the pizza place down the block, and other new businesses) so you could make an...

If Denver had a heart, it would probably be pumping Breckenridge beer and shouting âGo Avs Go!!!ââand it would probably live inside the DNVR Bar. This place isnât just a bar; itâs a sports fanâs dream wrapped in Colorado vibes and dipped in brewery gold.
Letâs talk about Riley, the MVP of the night. Not only did he make us feel like regulars the second we walked in, but he also let us UPSTAIRS where the DNVR podcast magic happens. Thatâs rightâTHE podcast studio. We were geeking out harder than a Broncos fan on draft day. Major props to Riley for making it feel like we were part of the DNVR fam.
And the beer? Oh, the Breckenridge Brewery beer was flowing like a perfectly executed fast break. Cold, crisp, and dangerously easy to sip. We may or may not have âsampledâ our way through the menu in the name of journalistic integrity. (Spoiler: it was totally worth it.)
Whether you're there to catch a game, crush some wings, or just bathe in the glory of Denver sports culture, DNVR Bar is the spot. From the buzzing atmosphere to the friendly staff and top-tier brews, itâs the kind of place that turns a casual hangout into a legendary night.
Already planning our next trip back. Someone tell Riley to save us a seat...
