I want to like this place because of the mission, but I just can't. My girlfriend best described it as "cafeteria food," which is spot on. I ordered fish and chips, and got froze fish planks and frozen fries. They were out of their "award-winning" wings, as well as one of the soups. It wasn't even busy, so I'm not sure why they were out of multiple options.
The menu didn't strike me as particularly healthy, which is one of the goals of the cafe. The real kicker for me is the hours, they're just terrible for a place that's trying to be convenient or stay in business: no dinner or weekend hours. Lastly, the place has no atmosphere. Hanging art on the mostly plain walls and adding some music is easy and would go a long way.
I like the idea, and the people working here were nice, but there's loads of improvement that needs to happen. It is...

I stumbled upon this cafe today while contemplating where to go for a new dining experience near my office in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The cafe had a clean, inviting atmosphere, without a ton of energy invested in gimmicky decor as is the recent Denver trend. The menu was also simple, appearing to focus on things done well rather than extravagant options. I selected the osage burger which was excellent and very generous in size. (Though advertised as 1/4 lb, it ate more like 1/2 lb and was perfectly cooked.) I was also intrigued by the cafe's joint mission to provide healthy organic options at affordable prices and to provide local youth with experience in the culinary field. I will definately make this restaurant a part of...
Read moreYo this Mercado is cool and they have great grab and go stuff. However the cook seems to be pranking the world with his terrible green chile "soup". Every time I have tried it, it has been unreasonably spicy. today I asked about it and he said "it's mild today" ok this is clearly some kind of amusing thing for the dude. Once again today the green chile was not green chile at all. it was a bunch of ground pork with way too many chiles and jalapeños and it was again unreasonably spicy. I eat actual green chile all the time and I eat it hot. I have raw jalapeños in my pho and I do pretty well eating "REAL medium thai food" you know today I hope it at least tasted good but it was awful. the soup was basically not soup, just a LOT of grease. Never eating...
