Our first time to visit Los Chingones and our last! 2pm visit, 4 tables occupied in the restaurant when we arrived.
Atmosphere. The music was so loud that there was no possible way to have a conversation without yelling at each other. My 11 year old was even complaining. We asked to be re-seated but were told that the other parts of the restaurant we even louder than where we were. Remember, music is supposed to be in the background. It's not supposed to be like attending a rock concert.
Food- We ordered the 3 taco deal. 3 tacos (mini), Asada and Birria, rice and beans for $15. I asked if I could get some salsa. I got the habenero expecting it to be hot. Unfortunately, it was super sweet! No mention of sweet salsa on the menu. The tacos were street tacos, minimal filling but cooked well and delicious. Rice was cold, beans were whole beans and flavorless. $2 for a can of soda, no refills.
Service-Lauren did the basic job of a server but, it seemed she was more interested in standing in the corner laughing and joking with bar tender and manager than checking to see if we needed anything.
EAGS-Apparently this is an automatic 4% add on to every check. I did not recognize and had to ask what it was for. Lauren's first response was "oh, it's for the back of the house". I said that I did not understand. She said, " It's a tip for the kitchen." This is absolute bulls$#t. As consumers, we have already been pummeled with price increases to cover all the other costs the owners are experiencing within the restaurant. I refuse to continue to be nicked and dimed to death now having to tip people in the restaurant that did not serve me and I never saw one during my visit. I have no problem tipping 20% to my server if deserved.
We past 4 other taco shops on our way to Los Chingones that serve as good, if not better tacos at a cheaper price, better atmosphere and great beverages. First impressions are so important. what a shame! Don't waste your money or...
Read moreAfter getting sick again after my second visit here I unfortunately can’t recommend this restaurant, although I’d like to because the staff is very nice and the food tastes nice initially. On 8/1 I spent 22.50 on card and I ordered the veggie nachos. They tasted lovely and the portion was massive. So taste and portion wise they were worth it. But I was sick for about 2 hours after returning home about 15 minutes after eating. I thought it was maybe a fluke so I wanted to try the restaurant again. Today, 8/6 I spent 20.00 in cash as I got chips and salsa and the cheese enchiladas and I like to leave a nice tip to lovely staff when possible. The same thing happened and I got sick upon returning home. The food tasted good but it’s unfortunately not worth getting sick and being in pain. About an hour or so later I am okay but I wanted to leave a note regarding my experience. I am not sure why this happened but I am curious if the staff uses latex/rubber latex gloves to prepare food or has any cross contamination with latex foods (for example avocado is one but I did not order that as I know I am allergic). Latex is a growing allergy and I’ve been allergic my whole life so this is a potential thought I had as I did see some of employees wearing gloves. Now this inquiry isn’t to blame anyone or accuse but just to see what restaurants use them. Cross contamination with meat is another thought I had as I noticed the menu isn’t very transparent on vegetarian items which I know can make others sick, too. The staff and I’m sure the cooks are great, too, so this inquiry isn’t to hurt the cooks or their reputation either. I am SO glad that others have had great experiences but I can’t recommend this restaurant for myself. I also want to note that other reviews about the music being extremely loud are true. I hope that others continue to have good experiences here as it’s a nice location with...
Read moreFirst interaction was with the host. Young well kept man early 20’s. A hearty hello and welcome with a great smile. The atmosphere is really great. Cool latin music in the background, and a few Tv’s with sports playing. Los Chingones offers dinning room seating, bar seating or a nice outdoor seating, I chose to sit inside. My waitress was there within a minute or two, pored me a glass of water and offered me the menu. I ordered chips and salsa to start and when she brought them to the table I asked her about drinks. She gave me the highlights and when I asked about Margs, she gave me some choices based on sweetness and flavor and I picked one she recommended and it was great. The menu here is really nice. A nice selection but not an imposing amount of options that just confuse you. My waitress explained that the tacos are served street style and offered suggestions in the rest of the menu. I chose the burrito with chicken (pic is posted). I have to say this was the first burrito i’ve had that was perfect. By perfect i mean mot to much rice and beans and just the right amount of chicken and veggies, not to mention it was not even the slightest bit greasy. The veggies... oh how great they were. There were cooked to the right amount of tenderness and crunch, and really great flavor. Parking is curbside and adjacent to several other dinning establishments, so parking was a little tricky, but once around the block and I found a place right up front. I would recommend Los Chingones Mexican DTC with out hesitancy and for all ages, kids included. Well done!...
