Atmosphere is perfectly funky. I got a few stickers ($1 each) & a metal water bottle ($10) and the Voodoo Dozen box. There was a Portland cream which was amazing. The grape ape yeast ring actually did taste grapey! The dirt one was a yeast ring with oreos on top. Marshall Mathers obviously had mini MMs on top of glazed yeast ring. Oh captain my captain is yeast ring with Cap'n Crunch on top. Weird but it worked lol Chocolate coconut was chocolate cake donut with coconut on top. Blueberry cake & sprinkle cake & Homer & raised glazed were all good & tasted as you'd expect. The Voodoo doll looks cool & tastes good. Now let's talk about the bacon maple bar ... if you like bacon on your Donuts then you're going to be in love - crispy bacon on top of maple bar & it's heaven. If you don't like bacon on your Donuts then you're just wrong! Then there's the maple blazer blunt... omg this was my surprise fave - I ate this over the sink bc it was covered in so much sugar & it was absolutely amazing. Crunchy but not too sweet. I couldn't tell if it was covered in brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon sugar or a combo of these. But either way, it worked. Let's face it, it's hard to get a doughnut wrong. These were great & the marketing is genius to make them kitch. There's a photo booth in the restaurant. There's an area to buy swag & their prices are very reasonable! I love the chandeliers hanging all over! The staff was pleasant & helpful. All wearing masks. I will be going back on my next trip. Maybe I'll try the Colfax location & try ordering a dozen of the other special...
Read moreFun to visit. I have had the doughnuts before better never made the trip to the actual shop before. Most everyone was nice but the girl who waited on us seemed fried and slightly irritated but felt more like she was tired and considering we showed up an hour before close it was understandable. The doughnuts were decent but the diablos rex pentagram looked more like a 4 pointed star. All in all it was underwhelming and a lackluster 1st visit we chose to do for my daughters 16th birthday. Sadly I just felt it would be more upbeat and exciting but as I reminded myself in the end it is just a doughnut shop. A decadent self indulgence but really felt it would of been more. But everything tasted excellent and other then the actual presentation worth the visit on that alone. Which is why I rated it 4 stars after careful consideration. The server almost knocked it to a 3 star rating but gave her the benefit of my doubt on why she acted as she did. But there is always my next visit I suppose to know if I should return or just wait for someone to show up with a pink...
Read moreVisited Voodoo Doughnut last night, and honestly, I’m not quite sold on the hype. While the decor is quirky, the box is a tad creepy for my taste. Despite living in Colorado, I might only return if a specific craving strikes.
The sweetness level was overwhelming, leading to heartburn. Opted for the Voodoo dozen, but wished there were more options for filled donuts—interested in trying the banana and mango ones, but they’re only available separately. They could make great birthday gifts, though, and their mugs are fun for gifting.
The counter staff kindly replaced the maple bacon one due to dietary restrictions. We chose the maple-filled, but it, too, was excessively sweet. Surprisingly, being nine months pregnant didn’t make me love them more. The only standout for me was the blueberry cake, reminiscent of home.
Perhaps Voodoo Doughnut caters to a different crowd; others seem to love it. We can’t help but miss the red boxes from Glaze Donuts in Milford, NJ. If you’re ever in the area, their Banana Foster and Maple Glazed...
