HQ — Restaurant in Denver

Be wary of this establishment. Had a terrible experience at this venue a couple weeks back and even wrote a letter to management without receiving a response. Overall, very poor customer service and as a performer and patron, other patrons should be aware of the type of service expected here at HQ. Without going into specific detail, there was a major misunderstanding and miscommunication with the ID checker, Joe. Joe is aggressive and physically placed his hands on me and my partner (female) to literally push us out of the bar, over a simple misunderstanding. Joe has zero manners, professionalism and I witnessed him snatching beverages from women without any warning. I wrote a letter to the company leadership team and requested a response regarding the confrontation and awfully embarrassing experience. The team did not bother to respond which is disheartening. Women are always scrutinized for not coming forward when they experience assault and frankly this is an example of why - this establishment did not bother (to my knowledge) to correct the behavior or offer a response from a concerned patron that came forward about an awful experience. If you’re in Denver and not hitting up HQ, what are you even doing? This place is an absolute vibe—seriously, one of my all-time favorite spots in the city! Every time I roll in, the drinks are flowing, the beats are bumping, and the atmosphere is on point.

The service? Stellar. Whether you’re here to chill with friends or looking to get your dance on, the staff at HQ are always on top of it. They’ve got those perfect cocktails and that friendly vibe you need for a great night out.

And let’s talk about the music—depending on who’s playing, you might just have found your new go-to place. Each artist brings something fresh to the mix, and the vibe shifts from chill to electric. Weird experience. Went for a Motown R&B night. The door experience felt rushed, as if our being there was inconvenient, despite being very slow. Bar experience was polite enough, but was told water is 2$ when asked if I could just get a water, as the DD for the night , and then witnessed a woman come to the bar for a water 10 minutes later at no charge. Then watched incoming patrons at the door be offered coat check and a lot more friendliness. Our party was not offered coat check, despite having very obviously large and inconvenient coats with us lol, or anymore conversation than absolutely necessary. I maybe just overthinking it, but as one of three or so poc at the event, It all felt a bit exclusionary. You might think an event centered in black history, culture, and music wouldn’t allow for this separation is customer service.
