Walked in with a bag from the store across the street. Had a drink in hand. She doesn’t say hi, instead the greeting is “do you want to put your bag and drink down?” I put the drink down on her shelf she has labeled for this (cause I guess it’s an issue so much she has labeled shelf lol). I have never been here but wanted to try to find some second hand fabric, so went to look for that. She then repeats herself, “don’t you want to put your bag down” in a louder and snarky Karen tone. I turned to my friend and said “I’m good I’m not gonna find anything here.” And left. How ugly. It’s obvious that people steal, however, because I’m carrying a bag, does not mean that’s the intention. You are so concerned with prevention of theft that you’re preventing a welcome experience from potential customers. And I was genuinely hoping to find something in her shop, but if that’s how you treat people, I’m not spending a dime.
Edit: I feel the need to respond to your reply. “Apologizing” because “you misread my tone” takes no accountability for the interaction. I am not a mind reader. Your tone and repetition of the statement obviously communicated that if I didn’t put my bag down you were going to have an issue with me in the store. I can confirm this because I didn’t even have to explain this to my friend who heard it too, she just understood this because that’s how you sounded. I get the drink, I do. That’s understandable. But I’m really sick of broadway supposed to be this walkable shopping district but apparently I’m supposed to hold what I’ve bought in my hands or bring it back to the car between each store, which doesn’t make sense.
Honestly your reply just sounds like a sorry attempt to smooth this over to negate the situation, but instead further solidified that you can’t see how you treat potential customers who have never had another impression of you, and offloads the blame to them with “sorry you...
Read moreWanted to check this store out while in Denver and am glad I did. The only thing I would have changed would have been my suitcase size so I could have brought some of these beautiful items home with me!!! You walk in and see lots of neat interesting sewn pieces... then you look to the counter where someone is sitting and creating the somw of the pieces you are looking at. SO cool. You know they take a lot of pride in their work and that they can answer any question you could have about any item. I also loved that they make the products in house... so I know I am supporting a local business in the US instead of child labor elsewhere. Really amazing experience- make sure you have time to look at everything and space to take things home with you! My favorite items were the blankets and quilts. The quilts were so beautiful and not the overly traditional, boring, country-home style. They all had personality and we're things I would be...
Read moreOn a recent trip to Denver we stumbled upon Sewn and were very happy we did. Our hostess was a delight, her fella who came to scoop her up at closing time was fantastic, too! We spent a couple hours (at least) trying on clothes and learning about cowboy boots. In the end I adopted 3 sweaters and 2 jackets by pearl, a great silkscreen tee and my little peppercorn got himself a pair of boots and a customized western shirt. A huge thank you to Sewn for making our trip to Denver even more memorable ♥ and a return in the near...
