The first time in prob 6 years going to Wahoos. Didnt have ones close to me. Went to the Longmont location 20 years ago, alot, but moved away. This is not the fish tacos that made Wahoos famous. These are shipped in frozen, very thinly sliced, fish filets that are coated in, what I would equate to, a chicken nugget batter/cornelmeal(instead of beer/flour batter fried). The taco was probably 1 oz fish and 2.5 oz breading and the oil in the breading per filet. Or at least that's the ratio. The ratio back in the day was reversed.
The staff was great and they did everything to prepare it well, and was attentive. To me this is a corporate problem. The only reason the food gets 2 stars is because it was prepared well and the produce and salsa were fresh and tasted great. It's just sad to see a once great food place fall to, in my opinion, corporate America profits.(I.E. seriously downgrading the fried fish)
Even tho nothing rates under 1 star it still gets one. Because you cant rate the downfall of a once great taco. Thanks again to the...
Read moreAmazing!!!! Ready about this place while planning our trip to Denver and did not realize we got lucky enough to stay in a hotel right down the street. It was perfect walking distance for us to enjoy the beautiful Denver weather and take in the breath taking scenery of the city. The vibe is awesome, the decor is on point and the price point is reasonable. I was a tad bit hesitant to try the rice and beans, simply because I'm hispanic and it's so hard to find a solid place that offers delicious rice and beans outside of the Southwest. I ordered Flounder tacos, as well as the classic Wahoo, and Salmon. When I got my food I noticed they gave me a Salmon taco, which i originally didn't order, as i am not a Salmon fan. But that minor mistake turned into pure bliss when i tried it anyway. So much flavor in these tacos, yet you can still enjoy the natural fish flavor. And the rice and beans are SOO SOOO GOOOD!!! I wish I ordered every taco to try. Great...
Read moreI've always loved this place and I've been going here for years. I have not been here in a while though and it has changed. Mainly, it seems like a franchise and not like a family own the local chain with great care for its clients.
I deducted two stars for the nachos. For over $10, getting a handful of chips with some microwaved cheddar cheese is absolutely unacceptable and a complete rip-off. They can at least use some better cheese, mix it up a little bit and actually put the toppings on the nachos when you dine in.
I took the other two stars away because the place is dirty. Even though it was very slow, most of the unused tables were dirty. The kitchen was a complete mess and all the staff were content standing around. They also had a counter space where it looked like their personal dining table. It was a mess and not presentable for a business.
Hopefully this place gets...
