Order #65 September 28 Came in for a counter order to go. Was promptly greeted and took my order. I was instructed on the purchase to read the screen and click what applies which happened to be about tipping. I normally don't tip for situations like this but ironically I did. 15% of the bill on something I did was not served or received yet. I was told 15-20 minutes. I filled my fountain drink and sat down 15 ft in front of the cash register waiting for my order. While waiting my entertainment was just casually watching the business run. I noticed the pickup that came in and was perturbed about something. I wasn't sure what it was about but he was waiting there a couple of minutes. To my surprise the sandwich came out and was brought to my table. I said I have a pie but I'm waiting for as well. That was acknowledged and the worker who did not take my order originally went back to doing business. I was watching pies coming and going on top of the oven for delivery and pickup. The whole time the two workers are staring at me from time to time. Both of them knowing I'm waiting for a pie. A lot of chatting. Social media pictures exchange, pizza boxes being made. I have nothing against this with a little lull in the action. it never occurred to either of these workers while I'm sitting there waiting to see where my pizza was. I was thinking to myself they know I'm here if the pizza is ready they've been staring at me for the past 25 minutes. Only until the Man comes around to clean off a table I had to ask"is my pie even in the oven yet"? I had a 4-Hour drive ahead of me and I was going to cancel if it was not. Now keeping track in my head what pizza boxes have come out and when they came out. I saw him eventually go over to the pizza maker and the pizza maker kindly brought him over to the one of the boxes on the end and pointed to it with a little bit of frustration in his demeanor. He hesitated in grabbing the box for whatever reason ,maybe because I was watching? Grab the box and came over to me and said it's ready. I said to him in a Stern frustrated voice "that pizza box has been sitting there for 25 minutes" I think he mention some kind of excuse I really wasn't even listening . I said you have to get a better system.... He replied,"we call out the name on the ticket when it's ready" Basically implying that I didn't hear them call out my name.... Now I'm a bit perturbed as well as the last pickup that I witnessed. I said to him and the girl behind the counter you have both been staring at me for 30 minutes. You know I'm waiting for a pizza and it hasn't occurred to either of you to check on it? At this point how long were they going to let me sit there staring at the counter waiting for the pizza? I did get a sorry. And can you check the pie? So I opened the box and I looked at a pie that's been sitting on the oven for 25 minutes. Mind you I brought my sandwich out to the car to kill some time that was sitting in the bag that was completely soggy when I went to go eat it. He offered to make another pie. I said I have a 4 hour drive ahead of me and I'm going to wait for another pie? No other solution was proposed and I ended up walking out with my pie. This is why I'm going back to my no tip at the counter for pickup at the counter policy. I tip them 15% of the bill which ended up being $5.55 . That $5.55 could not encourage anybody to look after my pie anymore nor did I get any other kind of special treatment. In fact I was basically ignored. If I was tipped for 15% for just taking an order that you're being paid for anyway. out of the corner of my eye I would get this guy's order to him as soon as I could for the encouragement that maybe if he came in again the tip would come back again next time. I guess the food would have been better if it wasn't a soggy mess sandwich sitting in a bag steaming on itself while waiting for for the food that was done ahead of time in 10 minutes. But I was forced to look at it for 25 minutes not knowing my order was ready. I regret...
Read moreI grew up eating Santucci’s Pizza in Philly, so I was very excited to see one in my area. The food was great, but the service was lacking.
I decided to dine-in yesterday with my kids, since it was empty for a Tuesday afternoon and I noticed a bunch of the younger male employees huddled together talking at the counter. Not a big deal, as I said it was empty and slow at the time that I walked in - but it surprised me that tables were still dirty.
I ordered a pizza and 3 mini cannolis, the wait for the pizza wasn’t unreasonable. However, I never saw the cannolis. I went to the counter person who admittedly forgot about them and apologized. Not a problem, I sat and waited. After 10 minutes, I approached again, still not ready. It wasn’t until my THIRD trip to the counter when the next counter person came in, that I saw HER go to the back to make them. Did the original person I placed the order with just not know what to do?
I greatly enjoyed the food and will give this place another shot, but I was greatly disappointed with the service. I hope that management is reading...
Read moreI’ve been eating Santuccis since I lived in NE Philly in early 90s. I’ve tried all their locations and loved it UNTIL I tried DEPTFORD location. I have NEVER had worst pizza ANYWHERE. Absolute CARDBOARD. It was take out, so I called and spoke to manager Patricia who was very indifferent and could basically care less. Only after prompting did she reluctantly offer a PARTIAL store credit. REFUSING TO REFUND ME. Then after giving her my name, demanded my address otherwise could not give me a partial STORE credit. I refused and now after dealing with “corporate” for almost a month…. And them promising to send a simple gift card, NOTHING. Then THEY requested my email address to IMMEDIATELY send gift card. STILL NOTHING. Ridiculous Horrible customer service. You’ve lost a customer of 35 years. Shame on you.
Response to owner: e-card was sent after 25 DAYS AND ONLY AFTER my repeated insistence and many many many messages back and forth. ...
