Attention shellfish allergic person's; If you have a deadly shellfish allergy like I do where even a drop of shrimp juice could put me in the hospital, do not eat here. Thankfully the waitress informed me but hear me out first as there are many "what if moments" that could have killed me. Out party of four arrived and ordered, during the order no matter where I'll be eating; I always inform the wait staff of my allergen so the food runner knows to keep my order away from any others in my party that may have ordered shrimp. Not fair of me to deny my friend the ability to have it just cause I can't. After telling her this, she informed me that there is a COMMUNAL FRYER for the entree items and that my fries would be fried in oil that has also fried shrimp🤦. I substituted my fries for something non fried no biggie. Well our party also ordered appetizers like wings, pretzel bread, and other stuff only for her to tell me that ALL fried items are fried in the same fryer that includes the chips as even their nachos are house made. So I couldn't enjoy ANY of the other things either 🤦. Now what if: the waitress didn't tell me about the entree. What if: she didn't tell me about ALL fried items. What if: she didn't tell me about the house made chips. What if: as a wait staff she didn't know to be able to inform me. What if: I simply hadn't mentioned my allergies since I mean like really who expects to die from fries or chips and who doesn't expect that restaurants would have separate cooking stations for such a deadly allergen. What if: I had eaten the chips not knowing that they Were HOUSE FRIED. Thank God for that young lady, "Shonta" because I did not have my EpiPen nor is one standard in restaurant first aid stations. Any of the above what ifs and I wouldn't be writing this review because I would have been dead before and ambulance would reach me without my EpiPen. Full anaphylaxis can onset in no time depending on your allergen sensitivity and restaurants should start taking more precautions regarding allergens this severe. They take precautions for nuts but not this🤔 Most other restaurant I've been to have precautions for this. Not Applebee's. Haven't been to one since I was a child before my allergy developed I didn't always have it but once it developed it's severe and could kill me. Now knowing that Applebee's has this practice of communal frying and not separating this deadly allergen; I will never eat at Applebee's again. It's not worth my life. I will concede to say that the atmosphere, service, and food I could eat was pretty good though so my one star is because of the lack of precaution or alternatives for people like myself. Couldn't even have nachos 🤦. But this needs to be known and Applebee's needs to take more precautions before someone dies or goes into shock not knowing. Read moreOnce a month my 15 yr old daughter and I make the 30 minute trek to the Hummelstown location since the one on the Carlisle Pike near our home closed. There's always a time slot to wait bc only a certain amount of tables can be occupied bc of covid. This past time was a 20 minute wait. No biggie. My daughter works part time and wanted to treat the two of us to dinner since we don't get much time to do things like this. My daughter loves the spinach and artichoke dip and only at Applebee's. She ordered the chicken tenders and fries which the fries were extremely salty but edible. I ordered the bourbon st chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes. The chicken has sauteed mushrooms and onions on it. Usually the plate is sizzling when it is brought out. The plate was only warm to touch and the waiter didn't even bother to say that the plate was hot. Even he knew it wasn't. The chicken was warm at best and extremely dry with barely any of the seasoning butter, onions weren't cooked completely and there was maybe 3 shrimp on the plate. Mashed potatoes were cold. Our waiter came few and far in between to check on us. I would have sent it back but didn't feel like making my daughter sit and wait on me to get my food back for hers to then be cold. This isn't something I've ever had happen at this particular location and it wasn't so busy that it should have been cold or even brought out while still hot. I dont blame the waiter as I only seen maybe at the most circulating. The bigger party of guests which there was a few seem to be the priority that night. I think maybe next time we will try out the Carlisle location rather than making the drive out of the way to chance getting hot food. We gave the waiter a generous tip as he seemed stretched thin. Read moreGot there at around 1:30 Sunday .place was empty . I ordered salmon, broccoli and mashed potatoes came with that the meal was cold and dried out. The salmon was at dry. I threw half the plate of food out. The broccoli was undercooked. It wasn’t cooked at all. It was just thrown on the plate. Also, the mashed potatoes had skins in hunks of potatoes . I’ll throw them. It was nasty. Simple enough my granddaughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger with everything that came out cold again with no bacon and no mayonnaise. We waited 10 minutes to get the bacon and mayonnaise which made the situation worse then there was that much seasoning on her French fries she couldn’t even eat them ! my mother order the ribs they were that tough. You couldn’t cut them not even with her knife couldn’t even get your knife through then broccoli and cheese sauce that she got was all not even cook. She had to throw that out . We never waste all our food ! to get a bill for some 50 some dollars and then the waitress got smart with us. We will never go there again. The whole bill should’ve been scrapped. I wouldn’t even give you one star. If I didn’t have to you should be closed. I can’t say enough bad so I’ll stop my rant have a nice day :)52.08 to be exact !
