Well after much soul searching I decided to post this review. First off let me say that I hardly ever right reviews. I am of the opinion that if the food is good then it will speak for itself. Obviously by this post the experience and the food were sub par to what I expected.
My family and I had been referred to Camilles earlier in the day by our parasailing guide. Being the type of family who believes in giving local restaurants a chance before chains and franchises (if they sell more T-Shirts then food, there is a problem with the quality of food.) we were excited to hear that Camilles offered some of the best sushi in town and allegedly beat out some of the other seafood / sushi restaurants in the area as far as taste and quality. Our guide told us to arrive early as it being a busy holiday weekend we could experience long wait times. So that's exactly what we did. we left our condo at 4:45 pm and arrived promptly @ 5pm. upon arrival we checked in with the hostess and was advised of a 40 minute wait. So the family and I said ok. After 40 minutes we were seated promptly. at which time, a young lady came by the table with our menus and poured us a glass of water. At this point I felt we were off to a decent start.... however this faded quickly as the young lady came by again and advised us that we needed to get our order in if we were ordering sushi as there "could be a wait." Since this is what we wanted to try we quickly placed our orders as well as an order for 2 bowls of the gumbo and 1 order of edename.
Approximately 30 minutes later the 2 bowls of gumbo as well as the edename came out. (I will be the first to say that these items as well as their presentation were great.) My family and I enjoyed this part of our meal and began to wait patiently for the main course of sushi (a total of 5 rolls. (1) COYBOY ROLL, (1) RAINBOW ROLL, (1) CALIFORNIA ROLL, (1) HEY BABY ROLL, (1) DRAGON ROLL) Remind you this is approximately 6:20pm at this point. this is where the experience turned bad. At this point we proceeded to wait close to 125 minutes (2:05). for our 5 rolls. during this time our server checked on us probably 3 times. (It is very fair to say that the restaurant became very busy during this time and our waitress appeared to gain more tables.) But it became obvious my family and I were pushed to the back of the line of people. During our time waiting we observed 4 tables with groups larger than ours be seated, dine, pay their tab, and leave, While we waited patiently.
It was at this point that my patience was tested and finally came to an end after our severer delivered another tables order (Again) and my daughter asked did they forget about us. At this point feeling frustrated and upset I flagged our server down, and informed her we were tired of waiting and that we would like to settle whatever we owed. We were then informed that our order was almost up and that we cancel the order for wait. Upon asking the approximate additional wait time she said that it would only be a few minutes. Having waited this long my family and said that would be fine. approximately 10 minutes later still waiting with no food or drink refill. the waitress came by and said it wouldn't be much longer. After informing her we were leaving she stated that she would let the manager know and that she would get the order placed in a "To-Go" box. approximately another 10 minutes later the waitress returned with several to go boxes of sushi and a discounted check (1/2) off the total price of the meal. At this point being nearly infuriated and trying to contain my displeasure I paid the balance and my family and I left the restaurant.
Upon arriving back at out condo at . we finally partook of the meal that we had hoped to enjoy. Unfortunately by this point meal was very disheartening. The sushi was standard at best and offered nothing special. with no real flavor profile that was significant to warrant a...
Read moreWe made a mistake and didn't believe the recent bad reviews about this restaurant. I'm writing this to be helpful to others. It started out great. The valet was happy and sweet. The young hostesses were lovely and sweet. We had a 20 minute wait and sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome and she poured a great drink. 20 or so minutes later, we were taken to our table. (All going well, right? What could go wrong?) We sat down and began to read the menu. There was a party of 8 or so nearby. They were drinking A LOT! We noticed 2 tables near the larger party giving odd looks. The party became rowdier and rowdier. Screaming and laughing and drinking more and more. Our waiter came by. We asked if we could move tables because of the drunk party. They were able to move us just a few tables back. It was better than nothing. We ordered some wine and the mussel appetizer. Got the wine. Then waited and waited. And waited some more. Waiter said that the kitchen only had one cook but it should be soon. My husband complained to the hostesses about the loud party and they said they would let the manager know. Meanwhile the drunken party was still drinking and scream laughing. At the ONE HOUR mark, I finally went to the hostess stand to talk to a manager. The manager was standing there. I asked how long the appetizer should take. He said 20 mins. I told him that it had been one hour. At that moment, the waiter came w the dish. The manager disappeared after that. We had to wait another 30 mins for our sushi rolls!!!! The sushi was made at the sushi bar and not in the kitchen. No reason for it to take another 30 mins. Meanwhile, they are still serving the loud party more drinks. They should have been cut off but they were still getting served. At one point, 4 waiters were standing by the kitchen window waiting for food and were obviously afraid to go back to their tables empty handed! The manager NEVER came by our table. The manager NEVER stepped foot in the kitchen. The manager NEVER spoke to the loud party! He just hid out in his office. It is a shame because the food was pretty tasty! There is no excuse for an hour wait for one appetizer and another 30 min wait for a couple of sushi rolls. There are quite a few wonderful restaurants in the area. There is no need to waste...
Read moreGood evening,
I am complaining about the restaurant that is located in destin FL. When doing a to go order over the phone. Ms. Holly said oh call back at 8pm. I looked at the clock and told her. It is 815. Ms. Holly acted unprofessional and told me , oh i didn't know it was already 8pm. I bet there are tv screens and plus you have your phone on you ms. Holly.... don't act or play as if the restaurant looks busy because it was not at all when i arrived only serving one customer at a bar that takes 2 hours to make my to go order. It cost 20 percent to tip added on for a meal that was in small portions. Costs almost $100 for the meal I ordered. Did not let customers know of the charges before ordering. It looks like scraps or leftovers. The bartender Ms. Holly H. Needs to get fired or retrained. Very rude when ordering and she didn't address me. She just straight up told me no pets in restaurants. Well there is no sign that stated no pets. Plus he was my service dog. If there was a sign posted somewhere in the restaurant then i wouldn't even bother coming here. Plus my dog was with me because im not leaving my dog in a hot car. There needs to be changes and your employees need to inform customers about the 20 percent charges before any purchases. When I called in the last time Ms. Holly told me. Oh , the restaurant was too busy, upon arrival there was only one person at the bar. Wow, it takes 1 person to order a meal for 2 hours. ms. Holly, H. Says she is the manager when she is a bar tender. I think you need to get another person to manage her, because of her rudeness to customers. No greeting upon ordering. No hospitality to customers coming in. Straight just rude and ignored me while I was waiting to order. She needs to be fired or get retrained for she is a horrible experience for all customers. This took 30 minutes plus an hour to make my food and it was not worth it. Very disappointed. Looks like this need to be addressed by head quarters.
