New Dragon Chinese Buffet and Mongolian Grill — Restaurant in Destin

This is my final update to the Reviews Below--still based on Customer Service Experience, as well as a Short Visit to the Establishment My boyfriend and I stopped by on Sunday with every intention of collecting on the courtesy order promised, as well as ordering additional food at menu cost to give New Dragon a real try. Having been told a note would be left regarding my situation so that I could come by whenever and not have to wait on the manager, I surprised to be told I needed to come back at 3pm (we were there slightly before 12pm) and speak with her to receive the 'free' order funds in my bank account were still being held for. After a look around the dingy restaurant and being unimpressed with the appearance of the buffet, as well as the food on other patron's plates, we decided to leave. We hit up Fuji Sushi instead (they have a VERY reasonable AYCE Chinese food & sushi buffet--the Chinese food selection is limited, but good, and the sushi on point), and do not have plans to return to New Dragon. I am happy to report that the authorization hold did finally fall off my card...9 days later.

This is an UPDATE to the Review Below--Still Based on Customer Service Experience The manager did reach out to me two days later and was extremely apologetic about my experience; she informed me that on busy days, such as the weekend, New Dragon utilizes an exterior delivery service who dropped the ball with my order. She was very sweet and professional throughout the call, and extended to me an offer to "give us another chance" by way reinstating the order I cancelled free of charge when I have time to come in. Having seen other reviews on the food--I'm excited to try it and hope to stop by this week. I will report back once I've been in!

ORIGINAL POST This Rating is Solely Based on My Customer Service Experience at This Establishment A coworker and I used the online service to make an order for delivery. The process for this was pretty straightforward and easy to use, which was refreshing, but I'm inclined to say this was probably the best part of my experience. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything for or against their food, as I never received it.

I received confirmation of my order at 2:18pm and my card was charged right away. At 3:00pm the food had not arrived and no one from the restaurant had reached out to me, so I called to check on the status. The employee I spoke with said he'd call the delivery driver and call me back in 5 minutes. At 3:18 (one hour after my order), I called again considering I had not heard back and was told they'd called the delivery driver twice and not been answered, but that they left around 2:30 with my order and so should be arriving shortly. Knowing my order would be cold at this point if it did arrive as promised, I asked to cancel. I was told that in order to do this, a manager would be calling me in 5 minutes.

They have several things I like. The staff is great. They deliver. They have a big buffet. Like many other places like this, it seems cleanliness comes 3rd or 4th. The dining area could use a little more detail. Clean the dusty ceiling would be nice. I dont want to see kitchen. Ive drove by back door many times as a shortcut and the door is always open and it just looks nasty. The worst I've saved for last. Im very picky when I read that a restaurant had been closed due to the live presence of roaches or rodent droppings. When given a second chance to address this problem I read the return visit showed the mgmt just bought a can of raid and delt with it internally. There were still issues. A third visit showed the mgmt complied to the health departments recommendations and all is well. When something like this happens I never forget it. If health dept sees live activity, your telling me the staff didnt? And for how long? If not for these issues this place would be 5 star for food. Judge for yourself.
