Sand destin suites and inn.06/02/22-06-05-22 [ ] The description said that they were newly remodeled and they are not still they are still remodeling. [ ] The person that worked the night shift 11-7 knew exactly what I was talking about because they have gotten other complaints [ ] Have to hold handle down on toilet in bathroom [ ] Room 217 [ ] The elevator is very weird and scary [ ] The vibe of this place is very scary and creepy [ ] Theirs construction guys working in the peak of people checking out and checking in [ ] Why start construction work right when summer starts knowing you are a hotel company in a city like destin Florida [ ] We left twice Friday 06/03/2022 1st time was 10:30 and came back around 1 and the construction men watched me and my family, I watched families walk out with their belongings and the CONSTRUCTION CREW never took their eyes off task at hand. [ ] When I checked in they stared and watched my family the whole time. [ ] They have watched us go and come. [ ] I watched 2 housekeeping women being dropped off by their Significant other or family…if you dropping your girl or whatever off in a Mercedes Benz suv at a hotel like this then something is wrong. [ ] The way y’all are acting so non challant about the situation creeps me out as well. [ ] Room 213 because we moved rooms we found a ziploc bag that clearly was a “I need a fix” bag [ ] My sister is almost 30 weeks pregnant and she is the one who noticed the bag under her mattress. [ ] She wasn’t sure when she started to feel like a tickle feeling on the back of ankle as she was pulling blanket to go to bed and then realized real quick that it wasn’t an insect but it was a quart size ziploc bag that was filled with needles and gloves and also something inside or wrapped up in a sock. [ ] The women that were working told us to move rooms and to not touch it because their were not any housekeeping on the clock at this time. [ ] The room they moved us to feels even more creepier than the 1st one [ ] Please stop doing false advertising for hotels just because it’s close to the beach. You are 5 min from beach. Not one window can you see beachfront. [ ] The area that this hotel is in it should a lot more nicer and welcoming. [ ] I HAVE SEEN A BUNCH OF FAMILIES BUT I HAVE ALSO SEEN SOME VERY SKETCHY PEOPLE. [ ] This place has no security, this place has nothing set in place to the point of someone wanted to kill or rob it would be very easy. [ ] The only thing that I can say that was fairly decent was the hot water and a FEW THINGS on the “complimentary breakfast” [ ] They say this a non smoking and no pet facility but they have stains on carpets and the rooms smell very mildewed and congested. [ ] So it’s okay to shoot up and hide or so high you forget your bag… [ ] The shift 3-11 didn’t seems too concerned nor did they ever check the room. The 3rd shift checked room and seen that we weren’t lying and seen the ziploc bag that was full of needles, gloves and something brown. [ ] I’m giving this place 0 stars. They also only refunded me for one night. Kept saying they couldn’t refund me my money. With no reason at all. This place needs new management or needs to be tore down. I WILL BE CALLING CORPORATE TO GET MY MONEY BACK. This is...
Read moreThis hotel and my experience was honestly 0 stars. The only positive was the location. The entire hotel is extremely run down, even the parking lot and landscaping looked like it hadn't been tended to in months.
The staff was not welcoming or personable at all, especially one of the front desk ladies named Brittany. Upon request for a new room (because it was falling apart and didn't even look as if it had been cleaned properly), her initial response was quite off-putting; "Well that's what we have and it's the room you've been booked for...what's wrong with it?"
We did eventually get the new room but it was very clear that we had inconvenienced her with the request. As for the rest of the staff, there wasn't a single time I ever heard them so much as greet guests as we entered/exited the hotel. They may as well not even been at the desk.
The rooms are in desperate need of deep-cleaning and updates. The room we stayed in had rust on every fixture Stained lampshades A worn out lounge chair Closet doors that were hanging off the hinge A sink faucet so loose it would spin and wobble every time you touched it A broken shower bar that was truly a safety hazard because they rigged it to appear fine and the second you touched it, it fell A faulty toilet Holes and cracks in the window seal that allowed bugs to get in (we slept with a large bee buzzing in the window our last night) Overflowing trash cans throughout the halls and outside The cheapest towels that would leave you covered in fuzz/lint after using them
Other things we observed were the rooms seem to be paired as suites. I'm not sure if they still use them that way but there is a door that leads to the next room so expect to hear your neighbors loud and clear. The pool is quite small and based on its looks and the upkeep of the rest of the hotel I wouldn't rush to take a dip The business center is a computer and printer tucked in a corner in the lobby right next to the entrance and dining room Upon our arrival there were unsupervised kids running around barefoot in the dining room and sitting and climbing on the furniture with their feet on the tables. It seemed to be the norm throughout our stay so we opted to skip the "continental breakfast".
This was truly the worst hotel stay I've ever experienced. Had there been anywhere else available nearby, we would have left. Save yourself the headache and book...
Read moreWe had an issue with noise at the Best Western Sugar Sands Inn & Suites in Destin Florida. Unknown to us, we were placed into a room next to a family WITH DOGS that is currently living in the hotel, due to being displaced from their home by the recent hurricane in Panama Beach. At about 6:30 am, we were awakened by LOUD howling and barking! At first I thought it was coming from outside, due to my understanding of the NO PETS policy at the hotel. I honestly was wondering if we were hearing coyotes out in the bushes behind the hotel. After listening closely for a bit, I realized the racket was coming from the room next to ours. I called the front desk and was told that they would contact the owner right away about doing something. Apparently the dogs were left in the room while the owner/s went to work or to take care of other obligations. The barking and howling continued for quite awhile and we gave up on trying to sleep. I asked at the front desk when we checked out about WHY there were dogs in the room and were told that under certain circumstances (hurricanes, for instance) they are REQUIRED to take in pets. While I understand the reasoning behind this and am VERY sorry for the unfortunate people who have lost their homes and belongings, I don't feel that it's right to subject other guests to the inconvenience of lonesome howling pets. The hotel was definitely NOT at full capacity and the room that we assigned to should be kept vacant until the people with the dogs can leave unless there is no other recourse. We will be staying at the hotel again in a couple of days and I requested that we be placed in a room far away from the one with the dogs.
Aside from that, we were happy with our stay. Check in staff Heather in particular were WONDERFUL and check out staff were efficient, friendly and understanding.
The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good.
The hotel is perfectly situated by MANY choices for dining. Quite a few are within...
