The Local Market — Restaurant in Destin

We landed here after abandoning a popular breakfast joint due to a ridiculous long line to get in. We stay close by at Jetty East every time we come to Destin, so we will be back. Serves breakfast til 3pm. Cool atmosphere. Honey butter chicken biscuit was delicious!! Biscuits and gravy were good but just average. So, I wish I had tried something else. The side of grits had no flavor, but I suspect they don’t season them due to serving them in breakfast bowls with other flavored ingredients. The donut was good, and we got full fast! So, we are looking forward to eating the cinnamon roll later. I read another review about the lack of masks and friendliness from the staff, and I would have to agree. The young man who rang us up was not rude, but not very warm or friendly, and when I asked if the gravy was sausage or bacon, he didn’t know the answer. That is not enough to keep us from eating here again. We will definitely come back to try more menu items!! Hopefully the pandemic will be over and masks won’t be an issue the next time...

So I ended up coming here on short notice because I didn't really see anything else in the area that I wanted to eat, at least I didn't want to eat fast food.

Overall the food is pretty good, sort of your standard pub type sandwich/ panini type fare, however I mean that in the best possible way.

I ended up getting the veggie sandwich, because I'm on a health kick lately, and it comes with grilled zucchini and overall very lovely, particularly the bread, however I would advise not to get the " sub sauce " at least if you don't like the whole thing tasting and smelling of vinegar.

The highlight of the whole lunch was of course the potato salad, I do believe they make it on site by the look of it. Really truly phenomenal and probably some of the best potato salad I've had in a while.

Prices seem pretty reasonable for the portions and I have to say that customer service was just excellent.

Definitely worthwhile to check out, off the road a bit but totally worth it and I'll be back to explore more...

There was no wait when my wife and I got here at just a little before 10am. The place was clean and organized. The staff was friendly and inviting.

My wife got the Avocado Toast with a coffee, and I got the Corned Beef Hash with a coffee.

Both my wife and I liked the taste of the coffee. I also liked that there was a carafe with milk so I didn’t have to mess with individual creamer packets.

My wife’s Avocado Toast (with bacon) was delicious, but it only had a single slice of bread. She said the pico de gallo that came with it was great too. I wouldn’t know…it was the first time she ever ate the pico de gallo that came with any of our meals in 10+ years of marriage—she didn’t share. For the price, the portion was a bit steep, but the taste was on point!

My Corned Beef Hash was outstanding. The portion was a great deal for the price, and surprisingly, it was too much for me to eat. I shared it with my wife to make up for her small portion.
